Open door, remove handles, arm rest etc. then door panel screws and then with a thin blade tool like a putty knife or a proper trim panel tool feel out where the internal fasteners are and pop them out with a force pushing the panel away from the door.

How can I separatte the ****** handle of my Epic 6500 fromthe hose? I have a wrapped pair of socks stuck in it at the handle

There are two different styles of hose for the 6500 vacuums. Please be careful when you take the handles off and also when putting it back togeather. To remove the handle there are two screw caps that you need to remove to get to the screws. You can do this with the tip of a knife or something similar inserted under the edge of the screw cap and pry up. The screws can either be a Phillips head or a torx bit. Remove the screws and then separate the top part of the handle from the bottom. Make sure to notice the position of the wires and do not unplug them from the switch or the contact block. The contact block at the hose end of the handle has two contacts that transfer the power from the hose to the handle and will bend out of shape if you are not careful. To remove the contact block, use a flat head screw driver under the block and pry up. On the older models, the handle will slip right off. If you have a newer model, there is a handle retainer at the base of the handle and will push out with a screw driver. It only goes one way and
the handle will slip off.
To replace the handle just reverse the procedure. Good luck.

Need to preplace handle release pedal

To remove the old pedal, simply insert a screwdriver along it's outside edge, and pry upward to pop it out. The new pedal, (#38434026) can be pushed into place with your fingers. Install it with the handle in the upright position.

My Kenmore progressive canistor vacuum has a loose electrical conection in the hose handle. How do you take the handle apart?

There are 3 visible screws there in the handle and one not so visible.

start by removing the 3 visible screws.
Take a flat screwdriver and pry off the colored portion of the handle that would contain the switch.
There is one more screw in the handle just in front of the switch, remove that one.

This is where it gets tricky.

under the handle between the handle and the hose, is a little square shaped pry area that is locked. Use the same flat screwdriver to get at that and release it. The rest of the handle should come apart pretty easy now.

Good luck.

How do you replace Hoover Handle Release Pedal on

The handle pedal is snapped in to the base, where it pivots.
The pedal needs to be pried away fron the base, exposing the pivot pin to release it for removal. On your model, you will likelly have to remove the lower handle from the base (where it pivots) to get room to release and replace the pedal.

How to dismantle vacuum hose at the handle with the power switch on epic 6500

Good that you didn't just pry things open. If you look closely you will see several tiny plastic caps under which will be hidden screws. Remove the screws and gently separate the "handle cover" from the main handle, then slide the handle off the hose. Clean the internal handle contacts and the rings on the hose. Reassemble by installing handle onto hose fully to align contacts, then installing wiring cover portion onto the hand grip.
Any evidence of black pitting on the rings needs to be polished with fine sandpaper and the finger contacts adjusted for tension to eliminated further shorting. After cleaning, you can apply a very thin film of petroleum jelly to the contact rings for smoother rotation.

How do you replace the handle release pedal

The handle release is just snapped into the bottom base. To take it out you will need to take a flat screw driver and pry the old one out. Then take the new one and pop it into place.

How do you take the handle apart?

Take a box cutter blade or something razor thin and locate the 2 screw covers on the handle. Pry the two covers off and remove the 2 hex screws. Pull handle apart. Done. Might want to check your elbow down on the power nozzle before you rip apart that handle though. 4 out of 5 times, the problem is in the elbow.
