The DVD player will stop playing the movie, the screen will freeze, and when looking inside with the case removed, you can see the laser table trying to read the point in the movie, and then the power turns off to it, or something.. because the cd's stops being turned as fast, the light for the laser (red) goes off, and then when it comes back, it slides the laser table back towards the start of the dvd, and then back out to the point where it screwed up, and then it does it again. It will carry on like this for 5-10 minutes and then it will start playing, but further in on the movie. I have also noticed that the gears, are twitching.. on what I think is the stepper motor for the laser table. Any ideas what this could be? The rest of the system works great, just the dvd player is having issues. I have blown out the unit, and tried cleaning the lense, as well as a reset to the unit.. with no luck. Thanks

How old is the system? DO CDs work when you try them? Put a disk in... remembering the position it was in.. Then try to play the disk... Eject if it does not play and look to see if it has moved to a different position... If not, there is a motor problem or the laser is not sensing the disk being there.
Have you ever opened up the main box of the system? Has anyone else been inside it?
If yes, then maybe it is time to do it again to observe if there is movement of the laser pickup..
Check the disk for scratches, and attempt to play it on another DVD player or your computer, if it has a DVD drive installed. The drive will have DVD written on the front. If the disk isn't a commercial DVD but playable on the computer then the problem is a unsupported format. To make sure your DVD player is working correctly put a known good DVD the player to ensure it still works.
is ur dvd player in an inclosed area because they need air and some more than others. is the device getting hot to the tuch. if it is then put somthing under the corners of the dvd player to raise it up. this should stop it from over heating. also try cleaning it. please rate my suggestion. thanks
First of all,if you are using rental dvds, there might be scratch which your dvd player might have an issue to read it;however,if you have tried many dvds in this player and you are having this issue, it is time to move on to another dvd player. I recommend a Pioneer dvd player. solutiondoct
Me three, same thing, reads 'no disc' or just won't play it. I have found that it happens more frequently on rental DVD's and that running a cleaner cd through several times helps but eventually that will even stop working. No idea what the problem is
It is most likely that the laser is not a problem because it can read the first part of the disk. If the laser is defective, it willn ot recognize the disk.
The problem is probably the seek mechanism. It can only access the inner tracks but cannot read the tracks further from the center.
