Dish network vs. on screen problem

When connected to our new dish, we get a random "pop-up" message that reads CH03 CATV we tried to set the access code for the TV but it keeps popping up. Dish Network says to contact the manufacturer. Help!

Re: Dish network vs. on screen problem

This surely is not a problem? The TV is simply indicating what channel it is recieving signals from. But in most TVs, to remove this On Screen Display, just deactivate by pressing 'Display' or 'OSD' on the Tvs Remote, as well as on the Remote of the Dish Tv reciever.

Can i hook up an old tube type tv to a new high satellite dish? i dont care if i get high def picture just want a regular picture.

Yes there is an option for ouptuting 480i signal from most hd receivers. You will need to check the specifics for the satellite dish receiver as to the channel that the TV should be on as well as how to set it to the resolution that you need. (I know some Dish receivers need channel 60 for the SD TV (coax (RF) connection) when it is TV 2 but channel 3 or 4 for TV 1.) Also check your TV so that you can use the best possible input available.

However, you may not be able to read the closed captions unless you enable them on the receiver. (Apparently, the encoding has changed.)

The manuals for some satellite company receivers are on their website. For example, Dish network manuals are here: . Their manual for the Solo VIP 211k describes connecting the receiver to a SD TV on page 91 (page 97 in the PDF version).

I hope this helps.

(I'm not aware of any satellite system that doesn't use a set-top box. If you do not have a receiver, then the above does not apply and you may not be able to get a signal.)

I need to get to channel 73 to connect to Satellite Dish network, but it keeps telling me there is no channel in list ???? what do i do..Thanks

We would be happy to help with that. Some TV's are not ableto go as high as channel 73. This sounds like you're having an issue with yourTV2, this would be the TV located in a different room than your DISH Networkreceiver. Go to the main TV by the receiver, press the menu button located onthe top left of your DISH remote. Once in the main menu, press the numbers6-1-5, this will take you to the "Modulator Setup" screen. Once there we want to highlight the "Air"option located below "TV2 Out" then press the select button. TheChannel should change from 73 to 60. Change the channel of the TV you arehaving an issue with to channel 60; you should get the DISH Network programmingat that point. We hope these steps help you get that fixed. Thank you for beinga valued DISH Network customer!

We have dish network and we had houseguests who didn't know how to use that remote so they tried to use the other one. now our tv won't change channels either at the tv or the remote, but it will change...

Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see you had a house guest and they usedthe wrong remote. You will want to check the connections from the TV to thereceiver, if the cable connecting the TV to the receiver screws on you willwant the TV on channel 3 or 4. If the cable is Red, Yellow and White (RCACable) you will want the TV on one of the inputs of the set. I will send a linkto help with these steps,

I have dish network, I turn on the tv and superemposed over the channel I am watching is the guidepost screen, it says no data for this screen. At the top of this I can see part of the channel I am...

We would be happy to help you with this. Pressing either the "Cancel" or the "View Live TV" button located on the right side of your DISH Network remote should take you out of the programming guide. You also mentioned that the programming guide displays no data; unplug the receiver for 10 seconds then plug it back in. By resetting the receiver this was it will prompt it to update the programming guide information.

We hope this helps in getting things set up the way you want it. Thanks for choosing DISH Network!

No channels just green lights on free view box

go to menu settings, make sure it is on air or CATV depending on what you are using. CATV is for cable or dish.
Then go to menu settings and find the "autoprogram" option and select it. It will scan any available channels. Let it run through completely.

Now using satellite dish

Not likely - - there is nothing on the remote that would cut-off the signal, unless you have selective inputs and you were not viewing the correct one. However, "cable" CH03 is correct if your satellite is attached to the screw-on "F" connector in the back of the Tv... When you press menu on the reciever does a menu appear on-screen??
