Disconnected humidity control-runs non stop, no link to part #

  • Anonymous Jun 06, 2008

Mine worked less than a year. I thought that the humidity was just too low for it to kick on. It has been nearly 2 years now and it still won't come on. There is a 5 year warranty on the compressor, but by the time I pay travel, time off from work to take it in and labor (1 year warranty) it is not worth it. I bought another brand. That's my solution.

I got a DH5010B about 5 years ago and it quit working recently. It starts but does not seem to be able to squeeze the water no matter where it is located. I have tried basement, kitchen, bath room etc. It just does not produce any water (not a trace of it) no matter how humid the place is.

Contact the people you bought it from and have it dealt with under warranty. Doesnt sound like a minor problem. Hope this helps.

How to trouble shoot our dehumidifier.

well this might be a small shortcomming of this model but as silly as it sounds even if you use a external hose to drain water from unit the float inside bucket still is active in unit so i bet if you look carefully the little float in corner of bucket is Just " not quite right" a little adjustment of this and im sure you can get it running again

The float is broken in our dehumidifier, is it repairable?

Is the float in the empty or full position?? If it is in the empty position, and the unit will run normally, then yes you can. The water will divert from the evap tray right into the hose. If it is stuck in the full position, and wont run because it thinks it's full, you will have to find a way to put and hold it in the empty position.

Dehumidifier runs for approx. 15 min works fine then shuts off and doesn't come back on.

run it without the filter with a 1 part vinegar 4 parts water. then try it with a clean or new filter. You may need to run it a few (5-6) times before it stops shutting off by its self.

Unit wont run but lights up. It reads low humidity even though its high

Hello,

First, make sure the reservoir is empty. If you plug the unit in and see a green power light, but the unit won't run, make sure the reservoir is properly inserted. Many dehumidifiers have switches or sensors to make sure that the reservoir is placed so that it won't leak. Look for these sensors and make sure the reservoir is engaging them. If your dehumidifier has a float or switch to indicate a full reservoir, make sure this switch isn't being tripped accidentally.

Good luck.

The unit is several years old - the float keeps falling in and the unit shows full -can I get a new float and will that fix the problem?

If the float falling in tells you its full probably not. Unless the float floats off a switch. Then a new float that wont fall off would probably do it.

If the float keeps falling off...why not tie a small piece of fishing line to it and suspend it above the switch? It will stay where its needed until water lifts it up.

Auto shut off comes on instantly

TURN UNIT OFF.. MAKE SURE DEHUMIDIFIER HAS NOT BEEN RUN FOR AT LEAST FIFTEEN MINUTES... TAKE BUCKET OUT... HOLD IN THE BUTTON THAT THE FLOAT IN THE BUCKET PUSHES ON.. THEN TURN ON THE UNIT.. DO NOT LET GO OF THE BUTTON EVEN A LITTLE BIT IF YOU DO YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FIFTEEN MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN.. IF UNIT WORKS THEN YOUR FLOAT IN THE BUCKET IS THE PROBLEM...

Full light keeps blinking on Maytag dehumidifier

pull out the tank and see if you can find the switch that actuates that fault.... it may be the float swich for the bucket and it may be stuck... flip the float switch up and down a few times

Goldstar dehumidifier

Hi,

Two possibilities:
1. Continuous running and there is water coming out of the unit to the floor drain; the unit is just doing its job. It is probably just that there is that much humidity in the room;
2. the sensors are faulty or were bypassed during the repair - the sensor would be testing the water coming out, if there is water, the unit continues to work, if none, then it shuts off. Most would also have an overfill float switch, again which could be bypassed, that likewise control whether the unit will continue to run or stop.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
