Problem for D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

I have an intel ibook with an airport extreme card

I have an intel ibook with an airport extreme card and I'm runn os 10.5.6, I use cable to access the web via d-link 524 wireless and my MAC scans the network pretty constantly and will often drop the connection completely. I've tried rebooting my system, the wireless, turn on and off
airport, but it only resolves things for a short time (like 10 minutes or so). What can I do to resolve this issue
