I have a problem with my nokia 6600 keypad, but there are some other problems as well that make me think this is not only a hardware error... Namely, while typing an SMS, I often have problems trying to type a certain letter, e.g. if I try to type say "r", sometimes I have to tap "7" three times, sometimes it gets to "r" in more than three taps, and sometimes only one tap is enough. The problem is the same with any other key, in any other application. It gets very frustrating when it takes you more than 10 min to type a simple SMS, you know. However, I also have some other problems, most frequent of wich is trying to send an SMS, because every other SMS doesn't get sent right away, saying "App. is already in use". Sometimes it takes quite a few tries to send a simple SMS, which is, after typing it for 10 min, even more frustrating. But that is not the end to my problems. Sometimes, not often, but also not after any particular action, a message appears saying SOMETHING LIKE "log is switched off", or even "menu is switched off", although when I enter any of the two, it SEEMS OK. At least to me it does. And then there is the problem of the MENU button. Often it also takes more than one tap to enter the "menu". But, when I tap it, it blinks just a little bit, but nothing happens, so I have to repeat it a few times. I would be most gratefull if ANYONE could at least GIVE ME A CLUE to the source of the problem.

Nokia 6600 keypad/key problem! I hope I've put this in the right section, as I'm not sure if this is a hardware of software problem I've posted it here, hope I'm right!
I bought a Nokia 6600 recently with a joystick that didn't go down. I replaced the keypad pcb, as there was a small tear in the ribbon at the bottom of the old keypad PCB. This fixed the joystick problem, but I now realise there is another problem with the phone!
The numbers 7,8, and 9 all display 1,2, and 3 when you press them. The '0' key seems to clear whatever's on the screen, so I suspect it's acting like the red end call key. It does this with both keypad PCBs installed, so I think it's another problem. Would this be the small gold contacts on the bottom of the phone, a software problem, or some other gremlin in the works?
I've had a quick search and someone suggested *#7370# to reset the phone, and someone else said it could be a keypad IC that's gone - any other suggestions? I'm at work tonight so can't get to the phone until tomorrow morning, and as the '0' key isn't working properly I can't check which software version the phone is running
open up your phone you'll need phone screw here.than you can check keypad connector, clean up with an pencils eraser(its safety) usually keypad or keypad light problem because off dirty connector.good luck.
think of tic tac toe 147 258 369 123 456 789 are key pad problems if other than that the problem is in phone circut. if you tinker on things and you can see that it is the kekpad go on ebay and find a parts phone and fix. if under warenty send phone back and get new one. (always use your warenty, thats what its there for).
