Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Zen Vision: m does not load past the Logo screen.

Hi, When I turn on my Zen Vision: m, it loads to the logo screen and goes no further. I can hear clicking noises while it tries to load. One time it did load, but all the text was pure gibberish. Can anyone help me?

Re: Zen Vision: m does not load past the Logo screen.

After you turn on the player, put your ear up to the back side of it and keep listening for about 2 minutes. If the hard drive eventually stops spinning or makes a repeated clicking noise over and over in a repeated pattern then the hard drive is bad. It sounds to me like that is the case. You will need to get the hard drive replaced. You should take it to a technician, or you can also do it yourself, but be careful. The parts inside are delicate and easy to damage.

I have a creative zen m vision which is not working if I try to reload firmware I get a message harddidk problem - how do I proceed

1 HD damage could be done when you drop the Zen and you hear noises inside, some times the display just shows the Creative logo and no more.
2 the display just show the Creative logo, no noises inside, you can tray to put in Recovery mode as mentioned in the other solution and then erase firmware then reload firmware, this firmware can be downloaded form creative page,
Before you go to all that trouble though try these steps:

1. Connect the device to the wall charger.
2. Hold the power switch to ON.
3. Put a paper clip into the reset hole.
4. Continue holding the power switch on until the Creative logo appears.
5. Select Format All from the Recovery Mode menu. (Note: THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE! - but it's better than buying a new device)
6. When the reformatting is done, select Reboot from the Recovery Mode menu.

My computer wont reecognize my creative zen 2 GB

You don't have enough room on your drive to do this. I had the same problem. I took all my router ports off and connected just my creative vision player only and it worked. Computer system was over loaded.

This sounds like it might be a hard drive problem. To put it into Recovery Mode, do this: put a paperclip in the Reset hole while holding the power button in the On position. Then release the paperclip and continue to hold the power button until it goes to the Recovery Mode screen. You should at this point try Format and Scan Disk/Cleanup, then Reboot. If it still gets stuck at the same spot, then its going to be a hardware failure.

Zen m : after reset no logo appears, black screen,

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

My mp3 won't start.

You could try reflashing the firmware onto the player. Go to and look for the support section. Search under downloads for firmware for your player and download that. Follow the instructions on the website.

Freezes on Logo

Odds are pretty good that the hard drive is messed up. This happened to me on 2 different zens. Can sent to Creative for repair, but if no warranty, then it would be easier to just buy a new one.
