The battery does not hold charge. It is weak. Replace it with same type number. Brand name of the battery isn't a matter, check its type number printed on it.

What type of battery does this unit take?

Hi Gilley

Your question will be hard to answer without more specifics. For most Apple products - iPod or iTouch, there will be a battery that is specific to the model, and may rank anywhere from easy to mind-blowingly difficult to replace. (I'm replacing the battery in a Gen4 iTouch right now. If you ever have the chance to do that, don't)

Other players will have other sorts of batteries - there's a trade-off of ease of battery swapping, battery life, and size/weight added by the battery.

If you can re-post your question with more specifics about your MP2 player, we may be able to help you better.

Hi does anyone know where i can get a replacement battery for this, thanks joyce.

I buy my replacements form China on eBay, the battery type is the very common 18650 lithium ion rechargeable. I've had less than great results using the unprotected battery so now I'm trying the protected version. Expect to spend 3-4 dollars for the battery and about 3 dollars for delivery which can take a few weeks. The battery connection is unique to the player so you'll have to solder it to the new battery. I love these players (xclef HD-500) and they're not available anymore. I have a couple of these and would love to find some for sale.

Is this a battery issue or hard drive?

Make sure the battery is of this type:
•Battery capacity: 830 mAh
•Battery Type: Li-ion

If this type of battery does not work, it is neither the battery, nor the hard drive. The problem is with the circuit. Unless you are an electronic genius with the right tools, it would be impossible to fix. There are no schematics available.

I hope this at least helps you find the right battery type.

Replace battery

You move the rubber clip at the bottom of the player.

There you can see USB port and a screw.

Unscrew it and you will be able to open the player.

You can use Lithium ion battery.

The battery for this player lasts 1Day(mp3) and 5-7hrs(video.)
You cannot fit a replacement yourself as you will have to take the player apart. Proffessional help is advisable. A replacement battery will cost around 15$.
