most software is available on the internet for download.
if you try just plugging it into your computer via db or USB the computer should recognize it and you can set it up...in all probability you will need a driver and that will be a case of downloading it if not already present on your computer

go inline on another pc bring a flash drive with you and download it to that then plug in flash drive and run the program to your pc

For the the CD that was crumbled inside your cd-rom. You can try to pull out the CD from the Tower casing and try yo maually open the CD rom unit itself. Or may i suggest that you can buy a new one. (CD/DVD roms are cheaper now a days)

1. wrong placement of CD/DVD disc
2. Hardware failure of the CD/DVD roms
