My Canon PC-25 copier is streaking

My Canon PC-25 copier has started severe black streaking when making copies. The green roller visible inside the toner cartridge has black sections on it, sort of like stripes of toner that go around the circumfrence of the roller at random intervals. This started not too long (though not immediately) after installing a new toner cartridge. Any suggestions appreciated.

- Thank you. I found out that because the copier is so old (at least 20 years), the toner cartridges available are likely old and starting to deteriorate. Is there a way to figure out if I am getting a new cartridge or an older one? Some sort of date code perhaps?

Toner cartridge is defective - replace it

- Probably, but you'd have to find that out from the supplier -every manufacturer does it differently.
