Re: display adapter

If you know the name of graphoc card search driver or update for vista bcoz the driver which was installed it is not comaptible with vista go thru the make and manufactrer list and download the driver for windows vista. if you not able to search the driver or driver for windows vista is not available then you need to change the graphic card. bye

I can't connect an external HF199H monitor, on a 2007 MacBook 3,1 running Windows 7. Help??

ok so for clarification, you are using a MacBook w/ a dual boot to windows 7 Ultimate? and after the update from Vista it now is not detecting your external display.

If I am correct, your graphics card is most likely an NVidia chip set. Do some research and find your specific graphics card, go to the NVidia website and download the most up to date drivers for it and try again. If you have done this already, try emailing them and find out if your graphics card is compatible w/ windows 7 or if the driver was specifically designed for vista. That's where I would start.

Acer s211 HL monitor, blibks like crazy and cant see video on full screen display, but works in small window format. Can not seem to download drivers from acer? Is it my drivers?

First check the resolution and refresh rate for your video graphics adapter. LCDs are apt to blink when not at 60 Hz. (Recently I had another client with that issue.) For Windows 7, right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution. Click on Advanced Settings and the Monitor tab. (Other versions of Windows will have this in a similar area or Control Panel > System > Display in some combination. Mac and Unix have this setting somewhere as well.) Also make sure that you are set for the native resolution or one supported by both the monitor and the graphics adapter.

Next check the temperature of the system. Improve the cooling of the system if the graphics card is overheating.

I hope this helps.

(who had the entire computer shut down when the graphics card overheated using full-screen video for on-line video. That was a major heat issue that had the CPU heat up too.)

I am using VA1903wm LCD monitor from Viewsonic. It worked well at its non standard resolution of 1440*900 when used with Windows Vista. i had to upgrade to Windows 7 Enterprise edition and this resolution...

Update your graphics card drivers to the newest ones available. That is typically caused by having the default windows driver for your graphics card. If it is a Nvidia gpu get the drivers from them, itf its an ATI/AMD get them from AMD Game. If it is neither of those Intel does some graphic cards, if its not an Intel one go to the computer manufacturers website and find your model to get drivers for it.

Power light is blinking, but no diplay

If the Power Light blinks, its means that the monitor is in ' STAND BY Mode '.
Monitor stays in Stand-by mode only if it does not getting any signals from computer.
please check the cable which connects the monitor and computer are connected properly.
Also check that the cable is connected to the proper slot of the computer.

If you hear some continuous beeps when you start the computer, then the problem may with the display card ( Video Adapter or Graphics card ) on the PC.

thank you

Input not Supported

The signal being sent is outside of the rated limits of the monitor (vertical or horizontal synch rates). Boot up in safe mode (by hitting F8 during the initial startup of the computer, before the windows logo screen comes up). Select Safe Mode. If you get a display in this mode, then you know your graphics card is sending a signal outside of the monitors limits, if not, then the monitor itself is probably bad. NOTE: The following steps are for Windows XP only... if you have a different OS, please reply and I'll research the steps for you.

If it is your graphics card, while in safe mode, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Click on the Hardware tab. Click on Device Manager and double click the Display Adapter entry. Right click on your graphics card and click uninstall. This will force the computer to reinstall the graphics drivers at bootup and, hopefully, reset the adapters output mode. Reboot the system and once in, set your display settings to the best for your monitor (Windows XP should pick the best setting if the monitor is plug and play).

I can only get 480 x 640 resolution and 4 bit colors and all the graphics are fuzzy

It appears the graphics card driver has not been installed. Check the device Manager and if you get a yellow ? against the Display Adapter then you need to install the graphic driver.
If your computer is a Compaq or HP then you need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model computer and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers :-

If your computer is not a Compaq or HP desktop computer and you know the make and model of the graphics card in your computer then go to the graphics manufacturer's WEB site to download the graphics driver.

My monitor requires a resolution of 1360 x 768 but I can't change it in Windows Xp eu but I could before with others versions of windows

The allowed resolution does not depend on the Operative windows used (XP,Vista, etc.) , but on the video adapter installed on the computer and on the video card driver.

If resolution 1360 x 768 was supported before on the SAME computer with a different system, then you may need to re-install the video card driver.

If resolution 1360 x 768 was not present before on same computer, then the display adapter installed on this computer may not support 1360 x 768.
Check specifications on Google, download updated display drivers, and if nothing works, then buy and fit inside the computer display adapter supporting 1360 x 768, like the one here: e-GeForce 7200 GS TC 128 MB PCI-e Graphics Card

Blurred pictures on monitor

The problem is not the monitor, it is the display adapter (Video card) of your system needs a valid Vista driver. (NVidia, ATI and Intel are the 3 largest Graphic card manufacturers) Monitor drivers are almost never needed except on some advanced large LCDs.

You said up upgraded to Vista, did you use a Vista upgrade DVD or just perform a clean installation of Vista? Have you installed Vista Chipset drivers? The chipset and Graphics drivres may not be native to Vista, you may need to install them.
