Will motherboard will support winXP pro

I would like to upgrade to Winxp pro operating system from Win2000.
I have an Aopen AX4BS Pro motherboard. So my main question is, will this mother board be able to support WinXP pro?

    Mark,
My cpu is intel pentium 4 , so does that mean 400 megahertz processor? (Sorry, I'm more of a dabbler than a pro at this thing)
I just added 1GB more memory to the original 256 mb.
There is at least 2GB of hard drive open (about 70% free of 18.6 hard drive. So it sounds like I can go ahead and order the XP.
Thank you so much for your help!
    Gary

Hi gimondor,

The motherboard really isn't your worry. Windows XP pro requires a 300 megahertz or higher processor. You motherboard can take from 100 to 400 megahertz, so you need to know what your CPU is. If your running an intel P4 chip, and at least 128 mbs of ram, and you have at least 2 gb's of hard drive space left on your hard drive, then you can run XP Pro.

Good Luck,

And please leave a rating based on my solution.

Absolutely. You shouldhn't have any problems with that system.

You will want to install your anti-virus first off, then do yourself a favor, and go to the microsoft update site HERE and let it do all the updating all at once. Since, you're going to need to download all the service packs, and all the IE's probably about 50 or 60 downloads. If you wait for the microsoft update service, every 10 minutes, your'll get the system rebooting on you, and you'll never get any peace until it's finished. Do it all upfront.

    Good Luck Again

We have an A OPEN AX4BS PRO and want to find out what video cards are compatible to upgrade

Any AGP card will do. But , since this is a very old and slow motherboard, you will not see the power of the latest video card models so pick an older, cheaper one like

Hi,

The drivers for your ethernet onboard card should be on your motherboard cd. Try and install the drivers from the cd.
