SOURCE: my oven and stove top doesn't work

Being that I am not familiar with this particular oven/range, I can only make a suggestion. But the clock most likely runs on a different circuit, since it requires much less power to operate than do the oven and range. The heating elements are linked together, so if you have a short in a wire, or a switch that has gone bad, it could affect the entire heating system, if it was in the proper place. The best way to check would be to open the top and rear panels and inspect the wires and look for any damage. Also look for a fuse or something that may be blown. Before you do any of that, please disconnect the power from the unit. It is no fun getting shocked!

SOURCE: Kenmore 790 issue

Since you mentioned replacing a heating coil, I'm assuming this to be an ELECTRIC RANGE vice a gas range.

It sounds like you may be missing part of the input voltage at the wall receptacle. You should be reading 220-240VAC across the two hot terminals (left and right slots). Some homes are wired with two separate breakers to make up the 220 service that feeds your appliance. If this is the case, make sure one of the breakers is not tripped.

Or, you may have a possible bad power cord. With the unit unplugged, check the continuity of the power cord from end to end to make sure the wires are not broken.

The clock assembly functions off of a 110-120VAC source which is tapped off the input voltage. All the elements all use 220. If one of the input legs is missing, the clock will still function, but none of the elements will work. Please check and get back to me if this isn't the problem. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Sears Kenmore Elite Oven 790.99123405 Caught Fire!!!

The PF indicates a power failure.
The range experienced a loss of electrical power.
This code is usually cleared by pressing the CLEAR/OFF button.
If you continue to get this code, you may need to unplug the range and check the wiring connections of the power cord on the back of the range.

SOURCE: my Kenmore Elite Gas Range

The F1 error code is a failure of the electronic oven control. This could be caused by a stuck keypad or an internal malfunction of the control. You will need to disconnect power and wait at least 30 seconds, reapply power and if condition still exist you will need to replace the electronic oven control.

You will also need to check if the oven is overheating. If the control has sensed a runaway oven temperature it will display an F1 error code. This could indicate a failure of the oven temperature sensor.

Hope helps.

Set the hour on clock on GE electric stove

Didn't give a model number, but try the following:

For a mechanical clock, push the center knob in and turn the clock hands to the correct time. (If the Minute Timer pointer should move also, let the knob out, turn the Timer pointer to OFF.)

For a digital clock, push in the center knob of the Minute Timer and turn Knob in either direction to set the Digital Clock numerals to the correct time.

For an electronic clock, touch the Clock pad. Touch the number pad. Touch the start pad until the time of day shows in the display. Note: On double wall ovens, you can only set the Timer for one oven.

The electronic clock/timer must work correctly and be in manual mode for the oven to work. It sounds as if you need to replace the electronic clock. If you do not need the clock function it is fairly easy to bypass the clock altogether and the oven will work no problem.

We have a maytag gas single oven stove. Where do

Hi.

The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.

SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.

If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

Regards.

My stove works but my oven wont, and the light of the oven wont turn off

Without a model number, my guess would be a stuck relay in the electronic clock/timer. Replace the Electronic clock/timer.

Oven doesn't work, stove does

If it's a Whirlpool or Kenmore oven (or one of several other brands that are made by Whirlpool) then this error code means:

F1 - E1 Safety flip flop Replace Electronic Range Control/Clock (ERC)

The system believes that the control board has failed and needs to be replaced.

This page has a list of diagnostic codes by brand and model number. You should check there to look up your particular brand to confirm what I just said.
