SOURCE: replaced lamp on optoma hd70 unit will not power on

I had the same issue.
Take the bulb cover off and hold it just above the unit. notice how that part that sticks down has a little curve to it. The curve is designed to gently push that little metal wire as the cover is lowered.
If you take a small toothpick and exercise the little wire in... NOT DOWN... you will hear a small click. That is the switch making contact. When it makes contact and clicks... and you plug it in the green light will be on again... and the unit will work fine.
You do not have to take the tabs off.
Just exercise the switch... put the cover on slowly... be very quiet and you can hear the click sound.
Plug it in and you are good.
And if the color starts to flicker on and off... it needs a VERY good cleaning... not a new bulb. Read my other posting to the guy with the fan picture.

I am betting that the ribbon cable to your color wheel has become loose. Here is a detailed slide show of a similar model so note where the cables are and check each one.

What's your problem? My hd70 stopped working: when i go to turn it on you can hear the fan spin up but where as in the past there is a brief delay and then the bulb lights up, there is now a long pause

It will be worthwhile to test the lamp on another unit or at a test center to confirm as the fault seems to represent a faulty lamp. If this is confirmed then the we can proceed to access the voltage on the lamp , if so the trip is due to low delivery from the power supply section and so it trips on loading of the lamp.

Used my OPTOMA HD70 ABOUT 2years now -and had to replace the lamp i unplugged it and when turning it back on to work - it does not start , it`s dead the green led lamp does not flicker , does not work...

There is a switch on the side where you insert the lamp, it's black with a metal contact. If, when the lamp cover is replaced, it does not "activate" this switch for some reason (i.e. it is loose or perhaps bent) then the projector will not power at all.

Just remove the lamp and take a look at the switch for possible damage incurred from when you replaced the lamp.

Optoma HD 70 turns on with lamp and temo soiled lights

Asher fadida and alll,

The issue:
solid red error light?
HD70 "die's" after few min with strage noise?
flickers different colors before complete self shutdown?

well try this....

Before replacing your bulb, fan or any other component try first cleaning your optoma realy good!! HD70 doesnt comes with any kind of filter so you can imagine the amound of dust can be.
The most importent thing is to blow away any dust from your color wheel + the sensor attached to it .

for farther troubleshoting clean your fan's.
there are 2 fan's insinde the HD70.

probably the most problems will be solved by cleening the color wheel!!
if the problem is not solved ,chack the lemp and the fans if they work properlly.

For fan replacing:

Picture keeps flickering after 15 min

if you hear chirping, too, replace the colorwheel. also check the lamp timer. if it's close to 2000hours (or the inside of the lamp is bulging or blackened), replace the lamp. if the lamp is new and the colorwheel doesn't chirp, replace the ballast/power supply.

How do you install a new bulb in the Optoma HD70 projector. Got a new bulb but no instructions

unscrew the screw on the lamp door, unscrew the lamp screws, pull the lamp out, replace with new lamp (making sure it's securely plugged in), screw it in, replace the door, plug the projector in, turn it on, enjoy!

OPTOMA HD 70

You didn't include much information other than the lamp not coming on. Here are a few things to try, if you haven't already. Unplug the projector and allow it to sit for a minute or two. Try removing/re-installing the lamp assembly. Sometimes especially after a lamp change the bulb/contacts are not properly seated. Ensure the screws are securely fastened to keep the bulb seated. Are there any lights, i.e. power, bulb or fan errors lit? I've had my HD70 since 2006 and use it everyday for my main television. PS3, DVDs and Cable all run through it. I average one bulb per year and about 3100 hrs on each bulb. My last bulb actually lasted 3600. I have tried all the above and each has worked at some point. Hopefully you can have some success.
