Not working with remote

I tried two different remotes but cannot get it to change volume or power on/off. I have had it for several years, this is a new problem.

The Infrared receiver contacts have a problem with bad solder joints. You can re-solder them if you know how.

I have a U-verse remote and have tried both codes for Philips and Magnavox and none of them work..volume doesn't work and power key doesn't turn TV off..What do I do ?

Get a Logitech Harmony remote. It programs from their website so if ever you change TV's or any other Hi Fi component, you simply connect the remote to a USB port on your PC and reprogram it to operate the new equipment. It never gets obsolete and will operate several hundred different devices. You can use it to replace several remotes so one remote will operate the whole sound system, TV, DVD players,Audio amps and satellite receivers.

Old codes do not work with new ones. If you wish to get new codes, check the sites linked here. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts there, either by its left side bar, or view it in Mosaic / Timeslide option. Try this link too. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Bush lcd42f1080p100hz remote will not turn tv on

I had come home about a week ago and pushed the power button from my remote but my tv did not respond. So I just went to the front panel and pushed power but once the tv turned on, the volume was on full blast! I used the front panel volume decrease to get the volume down, but when I stopped pushing the button, the tv increased its volume to full blast again by itself! Naturally I just turned the tv off for a few moments. I tried the remote again, no response again, so I used the panel power button. The tv volume was still full blast when it turned on but after I decreased the volume it stayed this time. The picture is and has been perfectly fine and the tv was working fine. The next day the problem started all over and now once we turned it off from frustration of having to manually use the panel to change channels, it now will not turn on at all. I have changed batteries from my remote, reprogrammed my remote, pushed system reset several times, unplugged it for a while, bought a new surge charge, and even held the menu and device panel buttons for 10 sec and tried to turn the t.v. on again! What other options do I have or what may be the issue at hand and possible parts that may need to be replaced?? Thanks!!

The television wont change channels, only power and volume work,

also check remote control if it the rubber contacts are clean. sometimes moisture seeps into remoted. and several times semiconductor rubber contacts loose their properties with friction and pressure.Try to remove batteries of the remote for several minutes and press buttons to discharge any current stred into capacitors. Put the batteries back into remote and try it.Otherwise Try another of the same remote or there may other problems with TV IR sensor. or switching circuit.

New remote won't program to switch to cable input.

That's a problem with universal remote controls. Often they don't control every function of the TV. They just don't have the buttons needed to control everything the original remote did. You'll have the most basic controls - power, channel and volume up and down - and maybe a menu button. But you'll frequently find other things don't work, like switching inputs. There isn't anything you can do except try all the codes for your TV brand and see what each button does. You might find that the buttons have different functions depending on which code you've entered. You might also look for another brand of universal remote that has more functions available.

Change the volume in WMC doesn´t working...

If the remote control causes a visible change with the volume control display but no audible difference, there are only three possible fixes. 1.)Go to Windows "Start > Control Panel > Sounds > Advanced. Here you will find a set of several volume control slide bars each with a check box at the bottom for muting. Un-check any controls marked as muted and raise the volume to 50%. Exit Control Panel. 2.) Many P.C. speaker systems are self amplified and have their own volume controls which supercede anything you do through Windows. 3.)If the problem persists you most likely have a jack plugged into the wrong feed. Allways power OFF and ground yourself before fiddling with computer jacks.

New remote will control volume but not channels

Try a different code for the brand of TV. Use the manual to try the different codes available or visit the remote menufacturer's web site for a list of codes.
