Setting up sucruity

When I first setup the router I didn't set the sucruity with a pass word and would like to do that know. I do not see anything in the lynksys
software to do that after it has been set up. How can I make this happen?

You need to go to the router's page. lynksys is //192.168.1.1 there you can set up you wireless encryption protocol (WEP) and name your broadcast SSID. The great thing about lynksys is you can have your wep key automatically assigned to you. Just make sure you use 128 bit encryption.

How do Setup a password for my router already have one password need to set a password for guest

You need to use your browser to log in to your router. Locate the guest account in the menu and set a new password. If you'd like, many routers allow you to disable guest accounts entirely. If you need specific step-by-step instructions, I need to know what brand and model router you are using, what OS your computer has, and what browser you use for accessing the internet.

I need to know the network key for my Linksys routerWRT54GL-EU in order to establish a wireless LAN to my PC (a Fujitsu moidel) Best regards, Preben Lund [email protected]

When you first installed your router, you used the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard" to"
* set an SSID ("network-name") for your network.
* set an encryption-level. Hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'.
* set a password or pass-phrase for your network.

Enter that password. Or, rerun that Wizard, to create new settings.

Depending on your cable/internet provider- if these instructions don't do it,
one of their agents should be kind enough to assist?
I was lucky enough to have them do it with me over the phone, after I had surgery & got sick of looking of the thing in the box in my floor!
Good Luck!

Need the WPA passphrase for a netgear wireless router

Found the link here
To answer the question "Where can I get my network key?" Your network key is set or saved on the router setup page. To get this, just open your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) on the computer that is wired directly to the router. Then type in the address bar http://192.168.1.1/or http://192.168.0.1/ the address will depend on the version of your router, or just try both, it will ask you for a user name and password, by default the user name is admin and password is password. Once you're on the setup page of your router click on the wireless settings on the left hand panel. Then look for the wireless security settings - if the security is set to WEP - Key1 will be the network key or which ever has a tick. Or if the security is set to WPA the pass phrase is your network key. Now that you know the network you can now type it once you are prompted when try to connect to your network.

If the pass phrase has already been setup.
And you do not know what it is.
Hold the reset button down to reset to factory defaults. Reset button is between the antenna and the ethernet plug. Little large hole than the rest near the bottom of the chrome grill. Good light you can see the black reset button.
Good luck!

Setup problem

Hi,

The admin user name and blank password, is a default setting of the dlink, perhaps somebody would have changed the default setting on it, Hence Please press the reset button and reset the device to factory defaults, you may need to press the reset button for 30 secs and once the reset is done, Unplug the power for 120 secs and then turn it back on. And now you can try the same, I strongly feel that it should work now, Furthermore the settings saved on the router would be set to factory defaults hence, you may need to configure the router/Modem for internet connectivity.

Kindly let me know the Kind of internet service that you are using for 'Help with modem/router configuration'

Happy Troubleshooting!!

Only partial internet access

Try a public DNS server, like:

  • 205.234.170.215
  • 205.234.170.217

  • There are many more, if you just want to 'Google' for them, IE; "Public Name Servers"

Let me know if there are any changes..
