Is this a chest freezer or upright? If upright freezer need to check if everything is running i.e. evaporator fan, compressor and the back panel inside the cabinet is not frosted up. If so then you have a sealed system problem which has a 5 yr warranty. If past 5 yrs. then it would be better to buy a new unit. On a chest freezer need to check if the compressor is running. Best way to check is with an amp probe around a single wire going to the compressor start device. Compressor will show amperage if running. If it shows no amperage then try replacing the overload and relay on the compressor (start device). If new start device doesn't work then the compressor may be locked up or have a bad thermostat/control board.

If the freezer is cold the compressor is Ok. Now if its a two door fridge . Open both the doors while the fridge is On. Press the lower door switch ( the lower light should turn off and you should hear the fan humming sound come on ). While holding the door switch pressed close the freezer door, you should see cold air come out of the slits in the back of the lower compartment. If not icicles have blocked the passages due to the non working of the heating coil. The heating cycle is controlled by the timer switch located near the compressor at the back. Unplug the fridge and remove the timer switch.Note the color of the wires and mark on the old switch. Replace and it will work.Only frost free fridges have heating cycle

Could be that the freezer is icing up stopping the air flow coming up into your fridge, try switching it off for at least 12 hours with the freezer door open.

Zanussi integrated fridge freezer, top half fridge not working

It appears you need to get the cold distributed from the freezer section to the frig section. This can only be accomplished by a fan that forces the cold air throught openings between both sections. Since the freezer in at the bottom, cold air cannot go upward, thereforethe fan. Chech that the interior fan (in the freezer section) is running. Check that the air openings between the sections are not blocked. Finally, if all looks good, then maybe the compressor system is slowly failing and only making enough cold for the freezer, but not enough to be circulated. Goodluck, Macgivor

Belling B160 Fridge is warm Freezer is cold

In fridge freezer where the fridge is under the freezer, the cold air falls down a channel from the freezer. I had a similar problem and it was a failed defrost thermostat. The evaporator in the back of the freezer was a solid lump of ice and wasn't allowing any cold air to drop into the fridge. The defrost thermostat was changed and then 30 minutes with a heat gun melted the ice. It was worked fine ever since. On a side by side fridge, there is a bypass from the freezer to the fridge. Either way, you need an engineer. You are not the only one to see this problem with that model. I see two in Google.

Frig section not cooling and at time appears to stop but freezer is ok

There is one compressor, condenser and evaporator in all refrigerators. The part that makes the cold inside the unit is the evaporator. It's in the freezer, behind a barrier on the back wall. It's a "coil" with many small fins. There is a fan that blows air over the evaporator which makes the air cold. This air comes from the freezer and stays in the freezer. The cold food section (the refrigerator) has a control that opens a hole for air to pass from the freezer to the fridge. This being said...you can rule out the "temperature control" for the fridge.

The sound you hear could be the compressor relay, the evaporator fan or maybe something else. It could be bad, it could be not too bad. (Like a fan blade a bit unbalanced with dust)

OK,,, back to the evaporator. There is a little heater next to the coil that turns on every 8 hours or so to defrost the coil. That's called the "defrost cycle". Makes sense, no? If the defrost timer (common problem) or defrost control board (common problem) go bad, your evaporator coil freezes up, and that's not good for anything in your refrigerator. But it can often keep the freezer section cold. You can easily disassemble the evaporator cover in the back of the freezer and take a look. If it looks like a block of ice, you probably have a defrost issue. An even, thin coat of frost is OK, but lots of ice is a no no.
