My thread keeps breaking, Ive checked and changed my needle, re-threaded bobbin and upper but every time I try to sew the upper thread breaks.

Have you tried loosening the upper tension? Remove the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning (make sure it follows the correct thread pathway). Sometimes the upper thread jumps out of a thread guide or wraps around something. Or try a different brand of thread? Avoid old or bargain bin threads--use good quality thread. Could also be the incorrect needle for the thread/fabric, ie thread too large for the needle eye.

Why Does My Thread Keep Breaking While Sew

I am quilting and the thread keeps breaking. What is the problem?

Not sure if you are piecing or trying to free motion quilt. If FMQ, try using an Embroidery needle (it has a groove in the shaft that helps protect the thread) or a Topstitch needle. Make sure the thread is not too thick for the needle's eye. Check to make sure the upper and lower tensions are not too tight. You might try changing brand/type of thread.

Here's a needle guide:

Or review suggestions for breaking thread here:

Hope this helps!

Top thread will not work ive tryed changing needles is there a special needle to use

the needle used depends on the fabric being sewed. the needle must move thru the needles eye smoothly.
make sure the machine is threaded correctly, using every thread guide
make sure also the bobbin is wound correctly and that the bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case correctly, if the bobbin is turned the wrong way the machine wil not sew
here is a link for a free manual, if you don't have one

My sewing machine will not stich. i have tryed everything i can find on this problem but nothings working

Make sure nothing has either gotten stuck/caught/jammed somewhere inside it. Insure that the thread stays attached to the needle. Or the material you are trying to sew/stitch may be too thick.

My machine is not stiching

try changing the needle--make sure it's the right needle for the fabricdo you have a manual for the machine?
try rethreading the machine top and bobbin
if the bobbin is top loading make sure it's turned correctly
if it's front or side loading bobbin makes sure the bobbin is inserted
correctly in the bobbin case and then make sure the bobbin case is
inserted correctly into the sewing machine.
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
let me know if these suggestion help or not

Im trying to hem a pair of jeans when i start it jams up im using a number 16 needle ive checked everything twice ive even called the help number and they couldnt help me i just dont understand what the...

If you think its the way the material is being moved, I would check the pressure on the presser foot. On my machine, there a knob with 1,2,3 to adjust, its vertically above the foot on the top of the machine(Check you manual). Sometimes the jeans hem is just too thick on the side seam. I just skip that part, or move the needle through that part by using my hand on the wheel, so the stitsches look ok, but it should do the rest of the hem fine. Try the thinnest part of the hem first; good luck

Did you change to the narrow stitch finger? The narrow one is in the door of the machine where the other tools are -- a little square box on the left of where the needle box slides in. Sometimes that is needed instead of the normal one.

Caution: If you have never before changed it out, open the left door all the way and look and see where the stitch finger is coming out of before you remove it all the way. Refer to your manual.

Breaking needle

Sounds like the timing is off, have to take foot off, take plate off, put it in the zz position and using the hand wheel turn(with new needle in) and see where it is hitting feed dog, loosening the screws to the feed dog and moving it in the opposite direction out of the way so as not to hit. let me know how that works
