I believe you are referring to the tension knob. Since when did this problem start? I think you need to get a replacement .

Rear doors won't open. How do I remove the door panel with door closed?

on most YR, make & models, roll down the window, R/R inner door handle , pop out pwr window switch / pwr lock switch w/ flat screwdriver. R/R Phillips screws from handle (usually 2 top 2 or 3 side screws). slowly work handle out from door, disconnect wiring clips (lock & window). W/ door open, remove panel by unclipping plastic retainers (hold down clips into the door from the back of the panel.) all around BOTTOM of the door. Next pop panel off the top of the side of the door from the top of the door. Same procedure to reinstall just reverse DON'T FORGET TO PLUG THE WIRING IN BEFORE YOU PUT THE HAANDLE BACK ON! THAT'S MORE WORK. GOOD LUCK. PS: IT'S EASIER THAN IT SOUNDS. FRANK [email protected]

Remove shifter cable from transmission

short answer: bar room.
remove both ends, it's out.
my guess, is the console end has you , wondering>?
remove it. and worry no more.

long tech answer (see alldata.com or FSM)
the is covered in the FSM.
and varies by model and sub model as they can have different consoles and can vary by country.
some cars the car seats need to come out. to get to console screws.
but not this car.
the USA spec.car has clips (pull em) and screws.
top down. the beverage holder has screws, the other parts pull up
and clips pop out, the center console box has a rug and clips under there. we just pull them off, by using a plastic pry lever.

here is a quote.
Remove the center console as follows.
  • If equipped with manual transaxle, remove the shifter knob
  • Detach the center console retaining clips and pull the assembly upward
  • If equipped with heated seats, detach the heat switch connectors
  • Pry up on the right side of the console pocket, detach the clips and remove the pocket
  • Remove the screws, detach the clips and disconnect the front power accessory connector
  • Open the console lid and remove the console mat
  • If equipped, disconnect the rear accessory power socket electrical connector
  • Remove the console retaining screws and remove the console from the vehicle.
usually the cable goes into a boxed in area, below the shifter
with seals to keep exhaust out or car. so below the shiter
on and automatic car, the cable attaches to the bottom of the shifting
lever. a clip hold is in place the cable.
if car is M/T (stick) then say so. i posted above due to 90% being A/T

now my question, why not say reason for this. symptoms.
this cable almost never fails.

Replace alternator

Hello,

This is how you go about it;

The serpintean belt must be taken off first, under the car remove the guard, the black piece of plastic in the front right. once thats done, there is a pulley that the serpentian belt is attached to. Look at diagram below>

Serpentian belt diagram:
--- and | | | is belt. ALT is alternator. Adj is tension pulley that you must pry toward alternator to create slack. (note: in order to do this you must jack up car, and go under.)

_
ALT---------------------------|()|
| |
| |
----------------_ |
---------------Adj |
| |
|_ _|
|()|--------------------------|()|

Once you pry the Adj and create slack take the belt off. Next you must unscrew all screws on alternator including the wires attached to it. There is a wire attached on the back were it kinda clips off, and one that is screwed in it for the curren on the sidet.. Daewoo's unique design makes it so you have to actually climb under the car on jack, and take off the altinator mounting bracket screws under the alternator. Once this is done remove the alternator my taking it under the car, it should drop off when you remove the mounting screws. It should kinda slide out, but you have to work it around the exhaust. Take the alternator out, then replace it with a new one. Put the mounting screws on first while holing it with one hand. then put everything back together. Put the serpentian belt on the same way you took it off.

NOTE: its quite a bit harder to put the belt back on. I used a wrenche to pry it loose then slid the belt on. Its is very hard to pry, especially with one hand and the belt in the other. But shouldn't be to hard if your strong. then reconnect the battery, and Bam there yah go. To test it take off one battery terminal while the car is on, if it still runs. you did it.

Good luck!!!

How do I remove the inside door panel of a 2001 AU11 Ford Fairmont to get at the manual door cable?

Standard Trim Disconnect the remote rod-to-lock knob assembly prior to lifting off the housing plate, to avoid possible damage to the lock knob assembly.
  1. Remove the inside door handles by unfastening the retaining screws.
  2. Remove the armrest. Tag and disconnect all electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the mirror remote control bezel nut and bezel.
Before you proceed to the next step, carefully inspect the door panel to make sure that all the retaining screws have been removed.
  1. Using a wooden spatula or panel puller (available at most automotive parts stores), pry around the trim panel putting pressure at the door trim clips. NEVER PRY BETWEEN THE CLIPS.
  2. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the trim panel, align the clips in the panel with the holes in the door, then apply pressure on the panel over the clip until the clip snaps into place.

Deluxe Trim Disconnect the remote rod-to-lock knob assembly prior to lifting off the housing plate, to avoid possible damage to the lock knob assembly.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the screws from the door handle cup.
  3. If the car has an armrest courtesy lamp(s), remove the lens, then remove the bulb and wiring. Remove the pull cup.
  4. Reach through the pull cup opening and disconnect the remote lock rod from the lock knob.
  5. Remove the retaining screw and the remote mirror bezel nut from the power window regulator housing switch plate. Raise the plate to expose the window switch and power door lock switch and disconnect them.
  6. Remove the retaining screws from the armrest assembly.
Before proceeding to the next step, carefully inspect the door panel and make sure all the retaining screws have been removed.

1993 jeep grand cherokee liftgate wont open

i just fixed the liftgate on my 1998 JGC Laredo this afternoon: door handle, when lifted, does not release latch mechanism

here is a solution that may apply to you...

1. open liftgate flipper window
2. remove door panel screws from inside
3. use coat hanger to pull up on locking mechanism arm (at the bottom) to release latch mechanism
4. with door now open, remove remaining door panel screws to completely remove door panel
5. adjust the positioning of the latch rod in its retaining clip (open clip and reposition rod)
in my case, I had took much slack and repositioned the rod by a few threads (about 1/8th inch) in the clip.
be sure rod is seated fully in the clip and that the clip is securely closed
5. test your fix before re-assembling everything

want a long, detailed version? let me know.

Cannot get front panel off kitchen aid dryer to reach heating element model # KGYS850JQ1

Remove the front panel by following these steps:

1. UNPLUG dryer before servicing.
2. Open lint screen and remove lint screen filter.
3. Remove the two screws at the lint screen opening.
4. The top panel with console, should lift up at this point (you may have to pull it towards you slightly if there are retaining clips holding it in place).
5. Unplug the door latch plug (small white connector plug).
6. Locate the retaining screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side of the cabinet interior at the upper left and right corners of the front panel.
7. With the screws and connector plugs removed, the front panel should lift up slightly, then come off.

NOTE: Note the position of the small retaining clips at the bottom left and right corners behind the front panel. These clips will insert into two slots at the bottom corners of the front panel to hold it in place when re-installing.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you still have questions, please let me know.

PS You can go to searspartdirect.com and type in the same model number you provided. There are helpful exploded view parts diagrams that can assist you. The "Top and Console" and "Cabinet" headings will help you with disassembly (if needed).
