Question about Sony Network Walkman NW-A1200 MP3 Player

Error message my walkman was connecting to my laptop but not the the sonicstage software. all the literature suggested initializing the walkman. On doing this a message comes up saying 'the connection between the devise and the computer is unstable. disconnect and reconnect them. if you connect the device to a different usb port and the device is still not recognized, delete all tracks on the device by clicking "controls", selecting "devise/media", and then selecting "delete all tracks". i have done all this but still get this message. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the software and still the same message. Any suggestions?

Well Sony dumped sonicstage too. Try using Windows Media Player make sure you have version 11 though other wise it won't recognize. I have a walkman but it is a downgrade from yours the NWZ-S615F.

Not a solution, but have since found that using all the same hardware I can connect successfully to other pc's that have sonicstage installed. Sony suggested replacing the cable.

Hi,

Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

The NO DATA or FORMAT ERROR message may occur if the portable player has been formatted using the format utility in Windows Explorer. To correct this issue, initialize (format) the portable player using the Initialize or Format utility built into your Walkman player.

Reset the unit by pressing the RESET button with a small object such as a paper clip.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you un-install and reinstall the latest version of the Sonic Stage Software and transfer the songs again to resolve the issue. Click here to download the latest version of the SonicStage Software.

This should resolve the issue.

Tip

No Data/Format error on Sony Network Walkman

Sony Network Walkman does not support adding / removing of files, or formatting if it is not done from SonicStage, their software.
If music is added of removed from windows explorer or other software, the player gives an error message 'No data' or something similar.
To fix the problem, download and install SonicStage from Sony support website.
Select your model and click continue, then scroll down, select your operating system in the select box to the bottom of the page and select the software you want to download...
After installing, connect the player to your computer and select 'format' from the menu (This will remove all data from the player, so you might want to make a backup).
Now transfer your music files to the player using sonicstage.

Good Luck

Hi,

The issue happens as the songs transferred to the player is not using the SonicStage Software. I suggest that you backup the songs in the Computer and then Format the Player. To Format the Player; press and hold the DISPLAY/HOME button, select Settings-->Advanced Settings-->Initialize--> Format-->OK.
Once the Walkman Player is Formatted, install the latest version of the SonicStage Software in the Computer and transfer the songs again using the Software to the Walkman Player. Click here to install the latest version of the SonicStage Software.

Hi there I have a sony NWS203FS walkman when clicking into the icon i get Error Code: 00004e2e How do I fix it?? Thanks

Hi,
This seems to be an error message when the database of the SonicStage Software has been changed. I suggest you to backup all the Songs in the Player and update the Software. Make sure that the SonicStage Backup Tool is used for creating a backup disc. Then, uninstall the SonicStage Software and install the latest version of the SonicStage Software(ver 4.3). Before installing the Software install the SonicStage Security update and then the SonicStage Software version 4.3 for Windows Vista.
After installing the Software the issue will get resolved.

Format Error

I hade just that prob. "format error" used to display. I did this:
1. dwl sonicStage (free)
2.- in the walkman went to menu/initialize/format
then displayed a confirmation screen, I confirmed
it displayed "formating...... COMPLETE"
3.- THEN plugged into the PC and transfered songs with Sonic
and it worked!
