Question about Panasonic VDR-D310 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Inconsistently not transferring entire video

I have a Panasonic VDR-D310, using TDK DVD-RW DVDs and open the VOB files with Adobe Premiere Elements 3. This problem doesn't happen every time, but very often. I'll record, pause, continue recording. When I transfer to my computer (USB or after finalizing the disk), only the first part of the recording shows (up to the first pause). Thanks for the help.

Re: Inconsistently not transferring entire video

I use a 2.8gb Panasonic DVD ram disk on the XL quality setting. I do not finalize it when it is full. I place it in my computer drive, and use the Panasonic software that came with the camera to download it. It is stored as lossless mpeg2 in an untitled file in my Vista PC computer. From there I pick it up with either Windows movie maker or Pinnacle studio 11. I never lose a frame. I hope this helps you. I nearly lost my mind learning how to get the best quality out of this camera! It is very good for a consumer grade camera and the low price. The user manual could be written better.

Download software to read panasonic VDR-D250 DVD

Software like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro or Corel VideoStudio should all work. My advise would be to also use a Firewire cable (may involve installing a firewire card) Just using the USB connecting will often if not always loose the audio

Good news.. you should be able to put the disc back in to the device that you recorded in on... and go to the menu to do the finalize... in fact, you may be able to add more to you disc prior to the finalize process if you want...
once it's finalized you should be able to view on other equipment... your files should all be there as well.

Let me know how you do!

Transfering Videos to my computer?

Sounds like you have conflicting file associations, which means that some types of files open in one player and others in another. However, this isn't your main problem.

To play the DVD file on the pc you need to have the .ifo, .vob and the .bup files in the same directory as well as the video_ts files etc. Easiest way to do it is to copy ALL of the files from each disk to a folder on the pc, then you can play them from there and format your disks ready to be re-used.

If you'd like further help with converting the format and sorting out your file associations please post again but the above information should cure your immediate problem.
