Re: Tape wont eject, play, or rewind. It tries, but soon...

Put the camera to your ear , power it up and listen ! if it sounds . . . jerky ? your tape is stuck to the heads ( not easy to get out , cassette may be toast and - time is money ) ; if you hear whirring sounds ? before shuts down your cassette housing may be bent ( will need disassembly etc . but not usually expensive ) because - if it is a loading problem , it will usually eject ;

When turning on to vcr or camera, camera beeps repeatly

Sounds like the camera ATE THE TAPE will not eject, fastforward, or rewind.. This will need to be repaired , worse case a belt slipped or something got misalligned inside, I would recommend a camera shop so you can save the tape otherwise digging into this yourself could stirr up more issues in the long run. Please do be considerate of facts here that we cannot see your unit and this error is because the tape got ATE or something got jammed.

Error message "push the reset switch"

Pull the battery out to reset it. Get a DV tape cleaner to clean out the tape deck.

That should solve both.

Please re-operate after pushing reset button

Just push the "reset" button and try again. The reset button is next to the EJECT button. You will need something small to push it in.

Tape will not eject

If you open the eject thingy like normal then look for a small white plastic tap. its located right underneath the "start/stop" text you see on the back end of the camera (where the record-button is). You´ll need something like a small screwdriver or similar. Press it and and the tape ejects like normal. Worked for me. Saved me the repair bill :)

Error code C:32:20

My best solution, is to pull all power sources form the camera for 24 hours. If this does not work, then take the small screws surrounding the Tape housing, in order to try and get the tape out. Best of luck dude ;)

C:32:11 message flashes, cassette eject won't work, camera doesn't work

Just had this problem myself... called Sony. Here is what I did to fix this:

1. Turn off power
2. Open the LCD Display
3. Press "Reset" with paperclip/pen
4. Unplug ANY wires connected to the camcorder
5. Eject battery
6. Plug in DC charger
7. Power on
8. Attempt to eject tape
9. At this point, the metal tape holder comes out but refuses to open... slightly "close" the portion of the camcorder that has the button to eject the tape, and then open it fully again (you'll hear a click, this signals the device that the 'hatch' is open and to eject).
10. The metal door *should* pop out and allow you to withdraw the tape.

I've tried 4 different cassettes and about 2 seconds after hitting play, I get the error every time... my solution: Not going to try to play my tapes on the camcorder anymore... will find another player to play Hi8 MP cassettes. Unknown if able to record to tape as of yet.

"Push the reset switch"

I had the same problem with the 'push the rest button' on the display after the tape mechanism jammed up against the tape compartment cover. I figured there was probably a mechanical error, possibly a switch. I dissassembled the camcorder and found the tape compartment cover switch was sticking. Here's how to fix it with some photos to illustrate:

1. Open the tape compartment door and remove the screws in the small plastic cover (fig. 1). Remember to look a which screw came from each hole as they are all different.

2. Remove the plastic part from above the tape mechanism (fig. 2)

3. Remove the screw above the front grip belt mount (fig. 3)

4. Remove the screw above the mic (fig. 4)

5. Remove the battery and take out the screw at the top left under the viewfinder (fig. 5)

6. Take out the screws under the LCD monitor (fig. 6)

7. Remove the two screws from the front underside of the camera body (fig. 7)

8. Now you can slide the front of the camera, together with the curved aluminium top section away from the main body of the camera (fig. 8)

9. It is possible to reach the switch with the front moved forward slightly, but it is possible to take the front off entirely by removing the wiring ribbon with the green tab (fig. 9)

10. Clean the brown switch at the bottom left of the exposed camera front with a soft brush/air (fig. 10 )

11. Reassembly is the reverse of the above procedure.

Hopefully this will mean no more frustration with the 'press reset button' screen.steviedeee.jpgsteviedeee_0.jpgsteviedeee_1.jpgsteviedeee_2.jpgsteviedeee_3.jpgsteviedeee_4.jpgsteviedeee_5.jpgsteviedeee_6.jpgsteviedeee_7.jpgsteviedeee_8.jpg

Has error

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.
