the screen on my presario v2000 went dead now theres vertical rainbows. is it the screen or the inverter and what tools would i need to fix this problem

Sounds like the screen failed or the Video chipset is starting to get a bad BGA contact.. Could also be the Board warping slightly under the chipset.. I Dont believe the V2K series has dedicated Video RAM but I'd look here if it does..

(HP Has had way too many issues regarding)...
