Most of the time these have a fan speed resistor in the cooling fan box under the dash there in there to keep them cool due to a lot of heat going through them when there on 1,2,3 and sometimes thay give up. the reason it runs on 4 is that its the highest setting and is getting the full 12 volts and does not run through the resistor. a replacment resistor should get all your speeds back

my wild guess in Europe, where they do exist.?go to your jeep dealer, and ask for the manual.

so your 2004 really is not real Cherokee, it is re-badged Liberty.
if the blower motor false on high , that is not caused by the resistor block , bad blower./relay./2 fuses ;/or controller. bad.

This is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor. The resistor is located next to the blower motor with one end going into the air ducting and the other sticks out with an electrical connector on it.

Because your blower motor resistor is burnt out. Replace it and it should go back to normal. You can get it any autozone, advance auto, napa, or o'reilleys

My blower motor now only runs in the "high" postion. I suspect this is just the switch since the blower does run. 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee (198,000)
no that is your blower motor resistor. find it in or near the heater box by your blower motor should have 3 wires going to it remove the connector remove the resistor and replace it, that should solve your problem

this sounds like the blower or switch is bad. to test blower, first check the fuses, then if it still does not work, run 2 wires from a power source 1 for positive and 1 for negative(ground) disconnect connector at fan motor and try these wires to see if it runs. if not replace fan,if it runs on wire but not from switch, replace switch. or check wiring carefully.
