Compaq notebook evo n1020v won't power up. Battery charger is brand new.

Remove the main battery, now try power on, if okay the battery needs to be replaced. Sub out ram one at a time to see if you can start it.

It depends upon your needs, the larger the hard drive to higher the cost and the maximun size you can install depends upon the BIOS. The smallest hard drive that is readily available is about 100Gb.

Compaq evo n800v saying non system disc or disc error

You need to check in the BIOS to see if the hard drive is being detected. Other than that, do you have like a flash disk or a media card attached to it when booting up?

I want to open my hardrive in the model EVO N800V COMPAQ to replace it..kindly help..

Looks like it's just a notebook IDE drive. On the bottom of the laptop, there should be some symbols that look like hdd platters in a vertical line. Unscrew the screws next to these symbols and pop that cover. Remove hdd, take old hdd out of the metal cradle it's in and put the new on in there. Then screw back together.
