So when I press the power button on my Compaq Presaria 5000, the light on the power button comes on, plus the light next to it with a little cylinder picture comes on. The lights on the keyboard flash on briefly, but then stay off. The fan on the power supply and the fan over the heatsink both start up, but nothing appears on the monitor. And the computer doesn't make all the normal sounds it makes when its booting up.
Also, I don't think this is the cause of the problem cause it occured after the problem started, but I just want to mention that when I took the cover off the computer the heatsink fell off the motherboard and is now sitting on the floor of the computer.
I've tried putting in a new lithium battery in but that didn't help. Any help gratefully appreciated
Mostly your heatsink damaged your motherboaard. check caps lock LED and Number Lock LED are working after switching on. If not ur motherboard or processor get damaged and u had mentioned what happened. Ur heatsink shorts some circuit in your motherboard
