Question about Black & Decker BDTF1010B Tower Fan

1 Answer

I am trying to fix an Oscillating Tower Fan.

My 1.5 year old Black & Decker BDTF1010B tower fan wants to cut off after a few seconds of use. I am thinking it is either the connections with the control buttons or the motor? I can not find ANY information on how to fix these fans.

Re: I am trying to fix an Oscillating Tower Fan.

Most fan motors for fan over running have an internal overload. once it trips, it will not reset. it is a solid state device. it looks like a flat device or a small bullet device. if you've figured out how to take the fan apart, you could just remove the device and connect the two wires together and the fan will run. you won't have any protection on the motor however. the windings run warm, but if the bearings run dry the motor will slow down and the windings will get hot. this is the reason for the overlaod device - protection. its your call what you want to have.

Owners manual for Enviracaire EFY-047? Remove filter? Thanks

I believe this is the correct Use and Care Manual for your fan:

Simply clean the vents with a vacuum cleaner; you should not need to remove. There is no filter in the Black & Decker BDTF1010 Tower Fan.

FTT-R tower fan would oscillate but the fan would not run.

You might have a stripped gear in the tower where it oscillates. Hope this helps!

Squeak in aloha breeze tower fan model 05538

If the model is equipped with a fan, and the noise occurs even when not oscillating it must be a fan/blower motor. If it is a squeak. A squeal could be an electical component going bad which is always bad. I would definitely take some bottom drawer tools , ie. screwdrivers and WD-40 and oil that squeaking motor. Being a fan it goes through alot of air pollutants. That tends to build up on the shaft and can work its way into the bearing seal. Good luck.
