Hi sir, I have a Dell Desktop machine gifted by my friend. The system is Dell Optiplex Gx150 and service tag is J2m951s. There was some problem in my CD ROM(Laptop size). Some one replace this CDRom with Old one with Compaq made device. Model- ( CD-224E - A44) Part No. 1977047a-44 Serial No. 6948638 Mfd Sep 1999 CT - 718140AD5IE8Z9 P/N : 314118-409 It is working fine But Now i want to upgrade it in DVD combo Drive. One combo drive is available ie.....
Toshiba Model No: SD-C2612 mfd : April 2003 ver no. 302 Rom ver : 1315 Serial No: 344M007847
But when i attache this device the system is unable to find this . So, i want to know what is that problem & what will be the solution for this..
Generally speaking if the system cannot "Find" the CD/DVD then it has a hardware fault. OR the BIOS doesn't recognize any DVD's. If it is the latter then one may be able to "Upgrade" the BIOS, if the first.. then a New unit is only option.
Also check to make sure the drive "Jumper" is set to Master, if it is the only device on that Channel, if not then Slave.

I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM Drive, Model No. SD-M1102 from an old HP Pavilion 8370 w/ Windows 98 that I let my kids use. The drive won't work anymore and I am not sure what I can replace it with and not spend a bunch a money. Are newer Drives interchangable? Can you help or provide a suggestion? Thanks Ed

Need your resolution to this issue I am facing with my Sony DVD-RW AW-G170A Drive. 1. The drive reads and writes CD?s fine. 2. The drive writes DVD?s fine but does not read the contents in windows explorer. The DVD is read using a software called ISOBuster fine. Troubleshooting done: 1. The dvd written on this drive reads fine on another dvd drive on a different system. 2. No upperfilters and lowerfilters seen in regedit. Microsoft fix also run. 3. Ccleaner downloaded and run and junk files and registry entries removed using ccleaner. 4. Nero unistalled. Still nogo. 5. Region code not changed. Only data files (word/excel files) burned on dvd. 6. Tried sony and moserbaer dvd. Same issue on both brands. Writes but does not read dvd only. Please suggest a resolution.
