I am using a Linksys G Broadband wireless router. When I set it up the router gave me an 'encryption key.' I was not able to create my own encryption key or phrasecode. I am unable to read the characters on the printout and, therefore, cannot hook up my laptop on a wireless connection. I have tried every variation but it will not connect. I am able to connect to other wireless connections on this laptop so it can't be the laptop. Is there anyway of finding out what my encryption key is?
Hi,
Yes there is a way you can find out the encryption key or passphease. You can also change it according to your preference.
first connect the router with an ethernet cable to the NB
Go to command prompt and type IPCONFIG
get the default gateway number
type the DG number in the internet explorer address bar
it will prompt for a username and password
Default username : admin
Default password : admin
not once u you are at the router configuration page go to wireless tab and click on wireless security
type the 10 digit phone number in the key 1 boz and make sure it is selected as yr passphrase
not reinstall yr wireless card drivers and connect again
it should work
