Try a few charge/discharge recharge cycles to see if you get an improvement. If negative, then replace since it is bogus.

SOURCE: my msi wind wont start!!! i was trying to

I'd like to help you, but it is very difficult to diagnose based on your description. We will need to gather more info as we try a few things.
1. Why are you reinstalling? 2. How old is the system? 3. Try the following & let me know the result: turn system back on. When the normal LED indicators are on, press & hold down the power button for 4+ seconds until everything goes off. 4. If step 3 worked, then turn power on & hit bios setup key (f2?). 5. See if HDD is detected.

SOURCE: I have a two-year old

Hi Stan - You're correct in your assumption about the battery failure. The manual describes that as a battery failure error.
The semi-good news is that a replacement (third party) battery can be had for as little as $32.00 on places like amazon.

SOURCE: MSI u100, 2 years old,

Thank you for using FixYa

Hey I can understand your frustration. I have an MSI PR400 laptop and I had a similiar issue while it was new and in warranty. They put a new motherboard in mine. I read that you tried it with and without battery. Did you remove the battery completely and restart? There is a slight possiblity that it is the power supply not charging the battery. You say there is a green light, but is it green on the adaptor? If so the charger is probably good. If you are handy with electronics you could try to get a reading with a volt meter on the tip of the charger. I don't see an easy solution and you will probably endup taking it in for repair. Did you push the reset button? Some models have one. I wish I could help more but that is about it on a notebook since it is a closed unit. You will need to take it to a qualified service center.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Looking for the longest battery life laptop ?

We’ve yet to see a Windows laptop with battery life longer than 5~7 hours, unless we add an extended battery to the system. But when hpand dell launched its new series of laptops last week, one big push wasfor longer battery life.

When you purchase your notebook, charge the battery to 100 percent, discharge it completely, and then fully charge it to 100 percent againto help the battery remember exactly how much electrical charge it canhold. From then on, you’ll never need to completely discharge the laptop battery again, but always make sure when charging it that you let it reach 100 percent. DeHoop told us to “remember to plug in the laptop AC adapter(or dock/port replicator) whenever you get a chance. Most notebookswill recharge quickly.” Salinas had another tip for your batteries:“Keep them cool. Exposure to high temperatures can be a battery’s worstenemy,” he said

Hope the list can give you some help when you purchase a laptop or battery:

    Dell c640 battery not charging

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

What is does the blue light with the 9 in a lock above the keyboard mean. and how do i turn it off. dell latitude e5510

    9 in a lock light:
Turns on when the numeric keypad is enabled. Turn NumLk off by toggling the key.

You can change it in System Setup. Under Post Behavior heading.
Press to enter System Setup and make changes to user-definable settings. If you have trouble entering System Setup using this key, press when the keyboard lights first flash.

Use the checkbox to enable / disable the Num Lock LED when the system boots.

The factory default setting is Enabled.

My dell latitude c400 does not take a charge do i have to buy a new battery ?

Yes, most likely you may need to replace the battery. Try to get a different cell capacity this time (I do not know if you currently have a 6 cell or 9 cell battery). Once it's not keeping a charge it most likely has a problem.
    Hope this helps...
