I recently replaced the belt in my vacuum, but noticed that the brush-roll wouldnt work. The manual instructed to check manually if the brush roll worked after replacing the belt and i found that it would not turn. I removed the brush rool from the vacuum and tried turning it but i failed. The belt is placed correctly and not causing any problem. I noticed 3 screws on the brush rolls and wasnt sure if i could unscrew that and clean the roll? Can someone advice what is going wrong. Why my vacuum is not working?
It sounds like either the bearings are seized, or there is debris in the assembly. You will probably need to dismantle the vacuum and clean everything out. It's not unusual for vacuum s to get really dirty and need periodic maintenance. If you have replaced the belt, then you have the skill to do the rest. Note that after re-assembly don't try to lubricate the bearings. They will only collect dirt faster.
You may have to do some prying to get the beater bar assembly out of it's mounting. They can be a little stubborn, especially after time. Generally, using a small flat-blade scewdriver will work. Remove the beater bar mounting screws on both sides of the beater/roller assembly and then pry the assembly out. It's possible that the bearings will be seized in which case the assembly will need to be replaced.

Thanks Joe,
I have cleaned as much as i could - dirt container. I have replaced the filter. And as i said i had unscrewed the 3 screws on the brush roll but wasnt able to dissemble the brush roll and clean it. Is that what u are talking about. or do i need to check any other parts. if possible can u be more specific as to what i should dissemble and check for cleaning.
thanks again for your response.
