Re: Fridgedair side by side

What to you mean by defrosted fridg. was frost built up in freezer>? check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, OR you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.

The freezer is cool but not freezing, the food is mushy.

Either temperature not set to required cooling OR the fridge or freezer door not closed properly, OR the weak compressor.----------- The problem can be temperature not set properly or any of fridge or freezer door not closed properly and cool air is getting leaked out. This are basic possibilities which first needs to be checked. But if this possibilities are checked ok and still the problem is same, then its weak compressor issue. Food and milk are spoiling even though set on coldest setting. Purchased July 2010 Whirlpool side by side

This is too early a complaint that must be done by you, So get the warranty claim for the fridge. It is possible that your fridge can have problesm related to low cooling from the compressor, the gas leak, the auto defrost or the temperature control.
If warranty is available on the product do not attempt to remove any part but get your claim without spending any extra cash..

Refrigerator top rack is warm. Temperature shows 65 degrees

if your freezer can make ice and the ice is dry, the problem is simply air flow into the refig section. A very common cause for a service call that wasnt needed for reefers is the settings. One setting OFF 1-10 usually, operates the compressor. The remaining setting will say , for colder freezer or similar, It opens a little flapper door between the freezer and the fridge section. If you set that one to max or coldest freezer it will actually starve out the fridge section for air ,and you get a cold freezer and warmer box! It happens everytime someone has the problem , its too warm! they peg both controls to coldest! The compressor will coll the freezer sufficiently even if set to 1 and the fridge should be cool too if the setting isnt pegged to coldest setting thus closing down fridge air and making the freezer colder which isnt ever required!

Same problem

If after cleaning your condenser coils at the back or bottom, checking your cold control dial, checking your door gaskets for leaks using the dollar bill technique and looking for some resistence when pulling it out, checking for any obstructions, etc. nothing works, then you will need to have it service - most common problem is defrost timer - If your defrost doesn't cycle on, your evap coils will frost over excessively and you will not get sufficient cooling - you can usually rule this out by turning off your fridge and manually defrosting them with a blowdryer until they are frost free and running your fridge again for a few hours to 24 hours and check the temps again (during this time I'd set the dial to coldest) and monitor regularly, if your temps are getting colder and colder (fridge below 40F and freezer below 0F, then your problem is a faulty defrost timer - or one of its related components. (Remember to set your dial to what it was)

If not - then next common thing is door gaskets and finally a sealed system leak, maybe a tiny one and very slow progressing one,a lthough I would be inclined to think this is not it at this point, but if you get it serviced the first thing they should check is evap fan for proper operation, defrost timer, door seals and then compressor.

I hope this helps.
