DVD player hook up. Says to wire to emergency brake
What wire is the emergency break wire on a 2001 Dodge Intepid. Where do I find it? Is it possible to bypass this when installing a VR-3 DVD car stereo? thanks

Yes it does. The emergency brake wire is a safety feature. If you don't have it hooked up it won't even display anything. If you do have it hooked up then you have to have the emergency brake engaged to be able to view DVD'S. The manufacturer does this so people can't just unhook the brake wire and watch DVD'S while driving
there is a wire comming off the back of the radio that should be wired to an emergency brake put the emergency brake on and play movie or remove wire from emergency brake and just hook it to a good ground basically all it is is a ground wire that when the ebrake is not engaged it does not make a connection to keep you from using the tv while you are driving because it is ilegal to have the tv playing while ur driving all you need to do to bypass it is find the wire and just ground it to a solid ground if you had an install shop install the radio by law they have to hook it up properly or you can ask them to leave it and you can hook it up they can not hook it up so that the player plays all the time hope it helped
Hi all car dvd players have a emergency brake safety feature. The pink wire is to be spliced into your emergency brake wire, or there is a code you can purchase to bypass this feature. Thank you for using fixya.com
Its illegal to do but i have done it! You have to connect the brake wire to either the pos or neg wire! You need to find out which one it is thou, so attatch it to the negative first so you dont cause any damage if it doesnt work then connect it to the pos wire and it should work a treat for ya! I stress connect to neg first!!!!!!!!!!
Normally, the emergency/parking brake has to be activated/engaged for the video player to operate.
By bypassing, you are simulating this condition even if in reality, the emergency/parking brake is not activated/engaged.
Solution > ground the video player's brake sensor wire rather than connect it to its intended connection point.
In some brands/model/versions of the video player, this would be light green (Pioneer, Clarion, JVC), green (Kenwood),
In some other rands/model/versions of the video player, there would be a bypass switch underneath a sticker, others would need a special adapter, still others have bypass option/feature in the menu/setup and some would require a toggle switch that would connect the dvd brake wire from positive to ground.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. A reminder pls, in some regions bypassing is not allowed.
Just ground out the Ebrake wire... it will work fine then. Even if you just link the ground and ebrake wire together and ground them together it works!
This wire goes to the "Hot" side of the parking break switch... When the Parking Break is put on, a switch is closed, thus putting an "Earth" on this wire.. Ya can often bypass this by connecting to earth. Sometimes this wire can be "Hot" +12v so B4 doing anything with unit "On" check this wire for any Voltage.
