I have an Insignia NS-PDVD8A. I tried this hack and others many times and was ready to give up. Then I tried it one more time, very slowly, one button at a time exactly as written and IT WORKED!! Hooray!!

no i have the solution
1. power on
2. open disc tray
3 in the remote press set up
4. go to preferences and press ok
5, push 253135
6. push left arrow
7. push down arrow
(shuld see region code 1 )
8. push 0 and press set up

Hey,
Try to use the same one as the newer version.

1. Power on
2. Open disc tray

With remote control:
3. Press Setup
4. Select Preferences
5. Enter 253135
6. Press Left Arrow
7. Press Down Arrow
(you should be seeing "REGION CODE 1" now)

8. Press 10/0 to set REGION CODE to 0
9. Press Setup (and it's done!)

Thanks. I tried this 3 times before I followed the instructions to do this very slowly. This time I got the screen expected, and changed the region!
