Question about ASUS F3Jc-AP141C Notebook

1 Answer

Will not work

The unit has completely died , there is absolutely nothing working even with the power supply connected wich is supplying the correct output . It gives the impression that it has a blown fuse , but I can not find one . Regards , Peter.

Have you tried another batt, reason being is that if the batt. is dead and the power works but is not connecting inside then it gives the indication that nothing works. If you can check batt. and find power then look for fuse. Now fuse may not look like a regular fuse, if you can open and look in the power supply area then and check fuse resistors, diodes anything that could be open.

What is most likely the problem when I push power button and I get nothing, no response at all, Power supply or Mobo ?

First of all, I'm assuming that you've connected everything correctly. I would think if absolutely nothing happens, it's probably the power supply. If a motherboard is bad, the power supply will still flip on, you'll hear the fan, and then nothing will happen. So your best bet for fixing this is replacing the power supply. Possibly with one that has a higher wattage.

You need to check the power supply and see if the output voltage is correct, it should be written on the power supply board by the out put connector, if it is correct then it is possible that the inverter is bad.. I suspect a bad power supply.

No power - have checked fuses, power leads and master switch

Well yes, there a problem in the power supply modual.
It does sound like a failing power supply , becuse of the
fact you don't get charge up spark from the plug , wich is normal
affter it's been off /unpluged for 20 min or so .

check the resistance of the plug coming from the set with a volt meter if you have 10 meg ohms or higher,
it's an open circuit and more than likely a 1.50 fuse in the power
supply. If the fuse blows instantly then it's a shorted output transistor or rectifier diode in the switching power supply.

Be a shame to pay 300.00 plus for a stupid fuse.

hope that helps a little . if you have any questions just comment
an i'll respond

I am not able to boot the computer

Replace the power unit. Go to eBay to find a reasonable priced one. They are fairly simple to replace, just make sure you are grounded and that you hook everything back the way it was. You will need the part number to find the exact one on ebay.

System will not start up. Cpu fan spins once, then nothing.

It is more than likely that when your old power supply died a death, it damaged some components on the motherboard. Replace the Motherboard and chip, and you should be back in business. You can pick up some good value bundles to save money on buying the parts seperately. The power supply working again after turning off and on, is because there is a little trip in the power supply that triggers when it detects a fault. Powering down resets that trip allowing it to try and work again.

Motherboard not working correctly.

The way that I solved the problem was to unhook each and every connection to the motherboard except for the 4-pin and 24-pin power supply connections, the processor, the cpu fan and the power on switch connectors, once I have done that, then I plugged in the power supply and turned it on, in which that worked! After that, I would hook everything up to the motherboard one piece at a time, in which after each piece I would turn the power supply on again to see if that was the problem. Starting with the hard drive, the memory sticks and then the DVD drive, and found out that was the problem. The cable between the DVD drive and motherboard was the wrong cable for that motherboard. I will purchase a new cable and see if that works!
