Our copier is older and says Call For Service with a U2 code. We are a non-profit organization and cant really afford a new copier and was wondering if this is something we can fix ourselves? Can you at least tell us what it is?
Thank you so much,
Steve
There are 3 different U2 codes, but all are kinda related. They are all communication related errors to the MCU board. Firstly make sure the developer unit is in securely. You try canceling the error code by going into SIM mode. press the following keys one after the other "#" "interupt" "C" "interupt". enter 14 and press start, this should reset the copier. make sure the copier is restarted.
If reset does not work and developer unit is in securely then it would more than likely require a technician.
Hope this helps.
I'm sorry, the correct way to get into SIM mode is [C] – [PAUSE] – 0/square symbol – [PAUSE]. and then 14 and start/print button.
the U3 error code is related to the scanner carriage unit. (the part that moves back and forth under the glass) it being bound up some way. You could take the glass off and check to see it the carriage moves by hand (with the copier off). check for dirt/debris and make sure the rails the carriage slides on are clean and slightly lubricated. are the cables in place? are there any wires interfering or catching on the carriage unit? it could also be a bad motor. does restarting copier(unplug it) and SIM 14 clear it?

Ok I went back and today the code was U3, now what? Also, there was no "#" button or key.
