Siemens panel g4040mb1200cu

Main breaker is overheating and tripping. checked connections and slight discoloration at power connection from street. appears to be overheating internally. I am a mechanical contractor by trade and would like to replace as I have seen this happen with subcircuit breakers. recommendations?

I would take an ampere reading first, looking for balance and load. If the load is not balanced, correct it. If the load is balanced and is less than eighty percent of the rating of the equipment, I would check the lugs for tightness, and if the load is over eighty percent of the equipment rating, then I'd be afraid tightening may strip the lux threads and would have to replace the load center with the next size but with current existing protection ratings or value.

Heat softens metal and can loose tightness. Retoghtening the softened metals can strip the threads. I offer the consequences as well as my services to complete the equipment servicing.

I have a friedrich cp15f10 unit and it was tripping the breaker on and off for about 3 weeks. Yesterday It tripped, I reset the breaker but no power on the unit. It produced very cold air and I always had...

That's what happens with loose electric connections. Need to go from the breaker to the AC unit power run inspecting each wire splice, all electric connections need to be clean and tight.
A loose connection becomes electrical resistance and electrical resistance consumes power, power consumed is dissipated as heat. Overheated, charred, discolored connections can be cut off and reconnected when found.
Start by tightening the circuit breaker wires, and neutral if any.

Dryer doesnt heat up

check breaker/fuse panel first for tripped breaker or blown fuse in electrical panel. if ok, than unplug drier and remove back to check connections to cord, look for discolored burnt or loose connections.. other diagnosis will require a volt/ohm meter

I have a intertherm feh015ha heater , one fuse in the box is getteing hotter then the other one (60amp). what could be causing this

The wiring from the main distribution panel to the disconnect box may have a loose connection at the lugs. Fuses and breakers work by heating up when there is to much amp draw, loose connections will also cause heating of the fuses and breakers. Check the connections at the breaker panel, disconnect box with the fuses, and at the unit connections, also the terminal connections at the heater.

Add up all the amps from active breakers. Do they add up over 200? If not, then I suspect a bad main breaker. If they do, then you need a larger service box and or main breaker.

I installed the above gfci with the pigtail side adjacent to the neutral bar, contrary to intructions. The gfci trips immediately when power is turned on the gfci is switched on. What could be wrong and...

1. Did you connect the neutral wire (white) from the breaker to the neutral bar?
2. Did you connect the circuit neutral wire (white) to the circuit breaker. If there is a neutral load the load MUST be connected to the breaker no to the panel neutral bar.
3. If this is a 50A load, what is the appliance connected to the circuit? If it is a range, quite often the newer ranges have a ground wire connected to the burner mount. A small current leakage in the element can trip the GFCI. Check each element (with power off) from the wiring terminals to ground with an ohm meter.

Discolored terminal on cord

Check the dryer power cord for any signs of melting or charring. It could just be a loose connection. Then.....

Check the wall plug - there's a possibility the wall socket is either worn or the wiring to the socket isn't tight. The socket will need to be removed to check this, so make sure the power is off first.

No power

you need to check the main circuit breaker in the house and make sure it is not tripped.
the check the main wiring harness connected to the back and insure all your wires are conneced properly.if you have had any kind of power surge the your main control board may have suffered a fatal short.you need to look at the control board and look for any discoloration on the boards circuits.

After running any eletrical equipment for +- half an hour ie fire or power tool,in the house I am renovating the main incommer switch continually trips, but no other circuit breakers do,please can you give...

The main breaker MAY be defective.

MORE likely is that certain main bus electrical connections within the panel are loose and overheating. This heat can trip the main breaker. Once the heating has occured at a connection, USUALLY the plating of the connection is burned and the whole thing needs replacing.

There is usually evidence of overheating such as discoloration.

IF THIS HEATING HAS OCCURED have the repair done immediately as it is a major fire hazard.
