No sound when capturing video

i have a mini dv camcorder with small tapes, i have a pinnacle box that allows me to capture my video to my computer using the av jacks. I use windows movie maker to get my videos on the computer which is no problem. The problem is that i can not get the sound from the camcorder with the video its just silent and i was wondering if i needed a different program or change settings or what
