Error message on LCD

Message says Unable to clean - see troubleshooting and maintenance guide etc, which tells you nothing at all about how to get rid of this message or how to fix the problem if something else needs fixing, or what has caused this...there must be a way to overcome this...grrrr

Thanks for that, yea we did find that in the book but was not much help. There does not appear to be anything stuck anywhere that we can see. Damn thing is only 18mths old and now cannot be used to do anything, wont copy wont scan...useless now! and we just put new ink cartridges in too! and that caused a prob cos it kept saying they were not full...grrr again. We did find out how to overcome that by taking out the cartrgs, turning the printer off entirely(plug out of wall) then replacing the cartrgs, closing cover and following the instructions when it asks if the cartgs has changed....phew what rigmoral..pfffft!!!
Thanks anyway...might throw it off my deck!!

I have the same printer, and same problem, i think it has something to do with auto cleaning the print nozzles, because i removed the majenta print cartridge, and it didnt give me the message again, although it is a very generalised message, could mean many things, hope it helps

Hey, about the only thing that I could find on the error was in the manual which said that you either have something jammed in the paper path such as a ripped piece of paper, or a clip or staple, or there is a mechanical problem, it didnt elaborate much further on the mechanical problem part. So I would recommend making sure that the paper path is clear, and if that is not the case then you will most likely be looking at a problem that runs deeper than the average user will want to try to fix. Hope that helps. Good luck.

If your your printer cannot clean automatically, your printer head is probably clogged so badly that you will have to do it manually.... your manual should tell you how to remove it...

Hi,

What is the condition of your print cartridges? They could have dried out during the 2 month period that you didn't use the printer. Try, cleaning the contacts of the cartridges and the printer. If you have new cartridges to try....even better.
