Why would a desk top start clicking upoun startup

1. Open Google Chrome. Navigate to the webpage that you want to be your home page. Make sure that no other tabs are open.
2. Now, go to Settings. (Click on the icon at the top right of the Chrome screen that looks like three horizontal bars. This will open a menu. Select Settings from this list.)
3. So to the section of the Settings page titled "On Startup". Click on Set Pages.
4. Click on the "Use current pages" button.

If the start page was changed without your input, it is likely that you have malware or adware on your computer. Run full scans with your antivirus software and also with Malwarebytes to try to get rid of them. Also, manually go through your programs and uninstall any malware that you find (Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features).

To change startup page, click on the icon that looks like 3 lines (top-right corner below the close button). From there go to Settings. A new tab will be opened and you'll see this:
Click on Set pages, click the x next to ask.com and enter google.com.
Click ok and that should be it.

b. Click on programs and features
c. Click on the program. then go to zoosk messenger and at the top uninstall should come up.
d. from there an uninstall wizard should pop up and delete the program.

Step 2:

a. Click the start orb, type "msconfig" in the search box and hit <enter>.
b. Go to the startup tab and look for the line that loads zoosk messenger. (Check with servies as well)
c. Uncheck it and click apply/ok. Reboot.

Please turn off the computer, start hitting F8 at the start-up and then choose last known good configuration. If this does not work, choose Safe mode options.
If still does not work, please try to restore the computer to factory settings. You can try to hit F11 or F10 at the startup to initiate recovery.
If not working, please tell me what error message you get on the screen.

if you ave one on your desk top right click and click add to quick launch
if no desk top icon create one to desk top from start menu first in same fashion then from desk top to quick launch

hi you can try starting your system in safe mode then delte it and see if it returns, if it does, check your start up and see if there is something creating a folder on the desk top when you start your system, you can go to system configuration utility in , start, help and support, tools, system configuration utility, then look for startup thumbnail at top and check to see if there is anything you need to stop running...hope this helps

just a quick thing to try is to press ctrl, alt, del and then select file -> new task. Type in explorer and click OK and see if this makes a difference.

Let me know if this starts it up, if it does there is probably something stopping the computer get back this stage and we can look t turning this off from startup if needed

Same thing happened with my laptop. This can happen in case the windows Audio service is not starting properly

Try this:

Click Start, select Run, type "services.msc" without the quotes and press Ok. Services window will open up. In that window, select the Windows Audio Service and the status and startup type of the same. In case the startup type is disabled, double click on it and select the startup type as Automatic. After that right click on this service and click Start. In case the Start is greyed out, click on Restart. Now check for the sound.

boot to safe-mode - goto start then run and type msconfig -

Within Msconfig you should see a startup tab. Look in there and remove or uncheck all that appear to be using ntvdm.exe

Also check in start, programs, startup, remove anything there as well.
