Yes. You should connect the TV with an external antenna, and should do an auto-scan, to search and store all the available channels. Refer its user manual for details.

All combo units are a little odd in this way---most use odd codes and hence most universals will not even program for them, if they do program at all key features will be missing---best bet always is an original remote only.

If closed evenly with a shaded area on each side that is the 4x3 format, I can look but so can you: some of the sets (Toshiba) are only 4x3 and not full screen (16x9) and to boot only work with HD on one input.

Hi sounds like the remote may be in the wrong mode , you can scan channels into the sky box or the TV/combo.
Make sure you are scanning them into the box not the combo.
