Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera
I'm getting an "error 1" message. First it came and went mysteriously- now I can't shoot at all. any suggestions?
I agree with dovi. I actually emailed canon and here is what they said and how to do it; Thank you for your inquiry regarding your digital SLRs. We value you asa Canon customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you, and I'm sorry to hear that you're running into the "error 1" message. From what you mentioned, it sounds like the lens might be having problems communicating with your cameras. One thing you could try is toclean the contact points on your lens and your camera. If you have not done this yet you can do so by turning the camera off, removing the lens, then brushing those copper points on both the lens and the camera body with something like a clean eraser. Should problems continue, I would suggest that you go to a local camera shop and try a different lens. That way you can determine whether the problem is due to the lens or to your cameras. I hope this is helpful Jason

I bought My father a Canon 450D body for his birthday as he had some lenses already, but when we tried the sigma lenses it seems go give the Error 01 fault. I have given him an old canon 18-55 lens and borrowed his sigmas to find out what's wrong. I am used to shooting my 500D in manual and have found that you need to have the apperture fully open (lowest number) for the sigmas to work.. Try this, Put the sigma lens on, and set the camera to AV (aperture priority) and turn the wheel until you get the lowest number for the aperture value (maybe 4.0) and take a picture.. now move the aperture value up one and take the same picture and you will get the error... You need to always shoot with the aperture Fully open..... I wonder if it's anything to do with the stops being 1/3stops maybe the lens can only calculate 1/2 or full stops? I'll have to look into that...... Chris
