Question about Yamaha HTR-5640 Receiver
The DVD and D-TV/CBL Component Video inputs on my Yamaha HTR-5640 just starting having issues. The DVD input now only displays when D-TV/CBL is selected, and the D-TV/CBL does not display (when on either DVD and D-TV/CBL). The audio is working fine, it just appears to be a problem with the DVD, D-TV/CBL and Monitor Out component video ports.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Did you try going thru the setup portion of the owners manual? IF you need the manual you can get it online free. I realize sometimes people read the manuals and don't understand the technical jargon. Let me know if you need further assistance thur chat session and i can possibly step you thru it better in real time. Good luck Guru Jay

i know this sounds stupid, but have you "toggled" or "played" with the HDMI cables? are they the same manufacturer? HDMI channel connections are very fickle. If just one connection is not exactly correct, they go to a limp, no go status. Since they run at such a minimal voltage, i can't see them "blowing" the outputs on the devices.however....if your cable has a serial type output for video only, I would connect the hdmi convertor to it and see if it works.

The TV must be tuned to the correct input also. Please cycle through the tv inputs by pressing the input button on the tv one time, then wait 5 to 10 seconds for the tv to recognize the input signal. If nothing, press again. You don't say which tv you have but many newer models have 5 to 7 input sources you will have to cycle through to find your signal.
With out more information, this is just one step in finding out what could be wrong. Please rank me accordingly.
