To delete songs from your device follow the steps below
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there.
Either under sync panel in your windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.
To format it..on your device..go under..menu, setting and there should be a format option option there..let me know if that doenst work for you...
Hope this helps

P.S.Please rate accordingly...

How to delete songs that are not showing

Hello,

Try switching USB mode of the player, to see the hidden files.
See next help link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/447

Look in the manual for the m200 series players on page 31 under USB, how to select Auto Dectect (MTP or MSC) or only MSC :
http://mp3support.sandisk.com/downloads/um/sansa-m200-um.pdf
MTP is Media Transfer Protocol, seeing the player as a media device.
MSC is Mass Storage Class, seeing the player as a removable disk.

All support for the m200 series players, on next page:

Certain songs on my Sansa m240, will not play

Hi,
If the songs you have are DRM protected then you may need to check with the source from where you've downloaded the track.
Sometimes, if the Music data base on the device is corrupt, even then you may run into such problems.
follow the instructions below to get the sansa firmware updater to make sure that the firmware for your payer is updated automatically:
METHOD 1 - Download and manually update the Sansa m200

NOTE: The manual update does NOT support firmware version 4.X.XXX. Refer to METHOD 2 if the firmware on your Sansa m200 is either 4.X.XXX.

WARNING: All data on your Sansa m200 will be deleted during the firmware update. Back up all your data before proceeding.

STEP 1 - Download the Sansa m200 Firmware Updater .exe file and save it to your desktop.

STEP 2 - Install the Updater
1. Double-click the downloaded .exe file (sdmx3-iv001.exe).
2. Click Next

Deleting unwanted songs

The Sansa M200 series devices do not allow deletion of downloaded content directly from the device. You must connect he device to PC/Mac via USB to delete downloaded content. You will also need to use media software such as Windows Media Player, Rhapsody, iTunes, etc.. to see all of the music content on the player to be able to delete the songs you don't want. (i.e. just viewing the device in Windows Explorer might not show everything that is on he player.)

Deleteing songs

You can delete them thru My Computer. Double click on the Sansa (m200), inside you will see a Music Folder. Inside is your individual tracks, separated by album names. You can add or delete all music from here. Best of Luck.

Problem

Have you tried removing the battery? Or maybe your battery is low. As well, if your mp3 player isn't turned on when you plug it in, that seems to affect if the computer recognizes it.
