We had a storm about two months ago. Power went out and so did the TV. Has not come on since.

I have the same problem as others with a storm now tv won't turn on. I was going to put it on the street but after someone started asking me a lot of questions about it, decided to investigate. I replaced fuse, that was not the problem. Pulled the board out and looked on bottom a burn spot near LF601. However I don't know what the name of this part is..............can someone tell me, it has copper wiring around it....I want to see what that part cost and if will be worth fixing............I love this TV!

Why did my tv just go to a black screen?

Hello JoAnn Foxworth,

Welcome and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your questions: I recommend you begin by checking the outlet where the TV is plugged in, or the APC/Surge protector, for power. You can use a hair dryer or lamp for example. If you establish that there is power flowing to the outlet where the TV was plugged in, then the TV will have to have the internal fuses and power supply tested, possibly replaced. If there is no power flowing to the TV, check your fuse box for blown breakers, or bypass the APC/surge protector and plug the TV straight to the wall to test for power.

I have a gv47l fhdtv10a lcd. it made a loud pop and went blank. i replaced the fuse on the power board. the tv will power on but the screen stays black and the tv will not power off unless you unplug it....

Something on the power supply board has failed. One or several of the voltages is bad and you don't have full control, no off, no screen voltage, etc. Unless you can troubleshoot switching power supplies, its best left to a repair shop.

Tv wont come on it sounds like its powering on but

1. Your primary side of the power supply or power regulating circuit.
2. Your TV is in need of service.
3. You will need to go to a certified TV Tech to diagnose this issue.
4. this could be the power regulating transformer in the circuit or regulating diodes in line with what are called bypass capacitors. Techs will know then as filter caps.

Our Vizio tv made a loud popping noise then went off. It won't come back on at all.We have had for 2-3 years no problems at all wit the tv.

the 1.5 amp fuse is bad on the main board (the big one) it is located on the right side close to the top there are three of them there they are soldered in but can be bypassed by soldering a new fuse right on top these fuses are white with copper ends on both sides very small look close

TV used to come on but quit. No Remote. Fuse is good. How to bypass power button?

the power button is a momentary contact switch
so if the set is not coming on and the fuse is good
you probably have either a power supply problem or a horizontal circuit problem which is why the set is not starting up

flyback transformers are know to fail on these models

My TV worked fine this morning,Turned it off,Went back to put it on and now it won't turn on at all,Why?

Maybe faulty power switch or its blown a fuse or the powwer supply inside the TV is kaput.
If its out of warranty get in touch with a reputable TV mechanic and ask them to come and repair it. It might be good to get a ballpark figure on how much it's going to cost.
Good Luck

We had a near lightning strike and now my tv (sanyo model ht27744)doesn't want to come on.

Lightening may have caused a surge on your power lines to the house and to the outlet the TV was on.
Do other things work on that outlet? If not you tripped a power breaker. If they do work check this.
Unplug the TV for 2 min or more and plug back in.
Try bypassing your surge protector you had it plugged into. It could have died when the lightening struck.
(no surge protector?) Bet you'll buy one for your next TV.
Look for 3000 joules and up rating for a surge protector and insure it has protection for a cable/antenna input too.
If this doesn't work the TV may be fried or internal fuse blown.
Time to take it to a repair shop or depending on it's age (5 years+) it may be time to buy a new TV and surge protector.
Near Lightening strikes can effect appliances from several inputs that could be affected from outside like Power, Cable, Antennas, Phone Lines that come into your house.

Maytag performa dryer quit working

Check your breaker first and then the wiring. Check power coming from the timer next. With a load and resistance that you had, you could have tripped one of the breakers.Since you have bypassed the thermal fuse, it probably is the timer switch.

Have a kenwood kac849 600w amp keep blowing fuse on amp as soon as power is too it power wire got wet and now this can i bypass that fuse some how

It would be very dangerous to bypass a fuse. If it keeps blowing, bypassing the fuse will only create lots of internal damage and maybe a fire as well. The fuse is blowing for a reason, the amplifier is not going to somehow start working because you bypassed the fuse. You also need to stop trying to turn it on, every time it blows the fuse, it keeps stressing the components inside. You have a shorted power supply, probably water damage as well since the power wire got wet.

I repair car amplifiers for a living, and can tell you with all honesty that bypassing the fuse would be a terrible mistake to make, the amplifier would end up being un-fixable with holes burned right into the board.

Please, just take it in for service or get a new amplifier. That is the only sensible thing to do. The amp will not start working bypassing the fuse, it will only start smoking.
