This dishwasher is older than most living people in this business. It works great except it is a 208 three phase unit. It is in St.Peter's church in New York Mills, MN. We bought it used during our remodel project in 1994 for a price of $800.00. That was our mistake. We had a converter installed to accomadate the 3 phase power supply. So we have this converter running 24 hours a day using up electricity and we use the dishwasher four times per year. I am wondering if we could replace the motor on this unit to 220/240 and eliminate the 3 phase converter. Or try to buy a complete used dishwasher for the 4 times per year our churh uses it??? The model is; Hobart AM 9T-2, serial # 290007, motor spec # 150011J Dave Braukmann dbraukman@arvig.net
This unit is a dinosaur. The 3-phase converter had to cost twice as much as the unit. Best solution - turn the power off to the 3 phase converter when not in use.
Better best solution - find a newer unit that will be repairable should it need service. Virtually nothing is available for the AM9 series of dishwashers.
Suggestion - talk to a commercial dishwasher chemical provider that leases dishwashers. They may have a surplus unit that they picked up from a customer (that they leased a new machine to) that they may be willing to donate.
Your AM9 is too old to get new parts from Hobart.
Why does the inverter need to run when the machine is not in use? There must be a breaker to turn it off.
If you decide to replace it, any AM series will fit your tables. Don't buy anything older than AM14.
