Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
Long story short, My dad wanted to give me his older TV (a 52" Sharp aquos HDTV) and in haste delivered it to me in his SUV. During transport the screen cracked. I can't afford to buy a TV like this, but would like to know if it would worth it to get it fixed? It would be such a waste to get rid of it.
I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.
For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. LCD screens really break easily as you know. http://www.tv-armor.com

No way. The lcd panel is more then the price of the tv. Sorry.

Since the LCD Panel is such a major cost of the TV, when it gets destroyed the set is "totaled". Replacement cost makes it not worth replacing. Warrantees typically do not cover this.
You can recover some cost by selling off the remaining boards etc for parts. Take the money and buy another set.
