SHARPING A CHAIN IS JUST A LITTLE HARDER THAN YOU MAY THINK, A PROPERLY SHARPENED CHAIN IS JUST PLAIN SAFER, BRING YOUR SAW TO YOUR LOCAL SAW SHOP AND ASK THEM HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF AND BUY THE FILES AND A SPARE CHAIN CUZ IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR GOING TO NEED IT, YOU MUST THINK SAFETY THESE THINGS DON'T PLAY ! ASK ABOUT CHAPS GLOVES HEAD GEAR.. I GET FIRST DIBS ON YOUR SAW IF YOU CUT YOUR HEAD OFF.. PLEASE BE CARFARE .. JAY THE PUMP GUY IN LONGWOOD FL

Saw cut is not straight. It curves until the chain freezes. Model 330 type #1 Chain saw.

This problem is caused by sharpening the chain on one side more than the other or can be caused by having the angle wrong when sharpening one side which causes one side to cut better than the other. The only solution is to get it sharpened professionally. All chainsaw users have to do this every few times we sharpen them.

Looking for sharping stone from efco fl64 /8 chain

There are multiple chain sizes 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/32", 7/32" and 3/8" chains so the /8 chain number has me guessing. After the qurestions below, here is my best guess.

Also is this for a chain grinder?" or

Are you looking of a hand held type stone?

Aluminum Oxide Chainsaw Sharpening Grinding Stone
or Ceramic stone?

I will assume that your looking for aluminum oxide stones at this time.

http://www.oregonchain.com/homeowner/products/accessories/replacement_stones.htm

This is wide selection of sharpening stones.

You can also use hand held chain sharpening files of the same size that have shapening angles marked on the file set fixture.

Hopefully you have a sharpening guide that will keep your angles correct while shapening.

A safety note: Improperly sharpened chainsaw blades can be very dangerous to the user.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Does anyone know where i can get parts for a emak type fl136lr36941 chain saw sharpener?

emak home page
http://www.emakgroup.com/
I suspect it is actually tecomec (both owned by the Yama Group)
http://www2.tecomec.it/database/tecomec/tecomec.nsf/prcat/AD47E80A73B834FBC1256E670057DEDA?OpenDocument
PDFs for each model are at the bottom of the model page.
The Tilton Equipment Company handles Tecomec in the United States.
http://www.tiltonequipment.com/html/totaltecomec.htm
I suggest you contact Tilton or tecomec for parts availability. Oregon sharpeners are subcontracted to tecomec Italy. It's possible Oregon parts may fit your unit. HTH

I think this is an urban myth among chainsaw folk!!! Please do what can to stop this mis-information!!!

Tecomec chainsaw sharpeners (Italian subcontractor for Oregon)
http://www2.tecomec.it/database/tecomec/tecomec.nsf/prcat/AD47E80A73B834FBC1256E670057DEDA?OpenDocument
Click the appropriate model, at the bottom of the page is a pdf. There are both 240 & 120 VAC models, use care. HTH

Require a manual for an ''efco'' chain sharpener.

There are no "efco" chain sharpeners at Northern Tool or at efcopower.com. There is a Chinese made grinder with the Northern Tool name on it. It is a lessor quality copy of an Oregon model 511A. It is such a good copy that parts and the manuals are interchangable. The 511A manual can be downloaded here: http://www.oregonchain.com/pdf/accessories/511AManual_3Lang.pdf
