Jandy Lite 2 Natural Gas Pilot Light Heater Logo

Where is the location of the pilot on Rheem P-M266 pool water heater. I think I blew it out when blowing leaves of the burner after trying to troubleshoot an ROL error. Now I don't get SPK at all. Just CFH which again goes into the ROL error. I cant hear any spark.

SOURCE: Pool heater leakage

Chances are that the header or manifold is cracked. usually the heat exchanger themselves are not damaged from freeze, but either the rear manifold (header) or the front header (the one that pipes go in and out of). Sometimes both. Replacing the entire heater is not necessary, about $200 in parts usually. We have a schematic diagram of the LJ heater here: http://www.poolcenter.com/parts_heaters_lite2_lj_2003-present_pg1.htm

SOURCE: heater tuns off and pilot goes off

Feel the Outlet Water Pipe when the unit is burning and see if it is Getting very Hot, Should only be a little warmer than the water Inlet Pipe. If it is Getting really Hot, You may have a water flow problem and it may be going out on Hi Temp, Knocking out the Pilot..

SOURCE: Gas man is checking my

Hi,
Often that is because of a bad or dirty flame sensor...The flame passes a current through the flame and theat proves that there is flame... if the flame is not hitting the sensor or it is dirty it will not pass the current through... also check that the burner ground is not corroded or loose...

These can be a bugger to fix...
and sometimes it turns out to be a bad sensor or a bad ignition module...

Water heater burner wont light

Problem is not thermocouple:
Thermocouple should be finger-tight plus 1/4 turn
Overtightening will short thermocouple against gas control valve, and solenoid switch will not open, and no gas will reach pilot once red button is released.
Tip of thermocouple has to sit in the pilot flame.
If pilot flame will stay on, then thermocouple is good.

Problem is not solenoid switch.
The gas control valve solenoid opens and closes gas supply to gas control valve.
On mechanical gas control valve, when you push down the red button to light pilot, then you are opening the solenoid and letting gas flow into gas control valve.
When heat is applied to thermocouple, a small electric current travels to gas control valve, and this causes solenoid to stay open.
If you extinguish pilot, then no current travels to gas control, and solenoid clicks off.
You can hear it click, and this is how you test it.
However, since you are getting gas to pilot light, then the solenoid is not the problem.

This leaves 4 possible problems:
1) Bad gas control valve thermostat.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/How-to-replace-water-heater-gas-valve.pdf
2) Inadequate gas pressure. Call gas company.
3) Dirty combustion parts. Clean the burner with wire brush and water.
4) Clogged air intake on FV water heaters: Rheem FV gas water heaters have glass vial that will break if combustion is slowed by clogged air intake.

Pilot will not stay light but will turn on and work properly

When having a problem with pilot and burner, the place to start is troubleshoot section in your manual.
Whirlpool is probably made by Craftmaster which I believe is a Rheem company, and Rheem makes a number of different models.
Some models have specific manuals and others have generic manuals.
Open Rheem water heater page and click on water that matches your water heater. On page that opens, click on tab that says 'specs' and then download manual.
http://www.rheem.com/Products/tank_water_heaters/gas_water_heaters

If none of those water heaters look like yours, open following link to help identify company website and download manual. Craftmaster website does not have instruction manuals.

All gas water heaters require periodic maintenance.
Some require yearly maintenance.
The burner parts require cleaning.

Pool heater sparks but does not light up

coud be several things, Do you have Gas and is gas toruned on. Is valve on. The Pilot could be dirty and need cleaned. $350+ sounds reallly pricy for a pilot assembly. Call your Gas Company and get an Estimate and a Qualifed Service tech. You may try turning Off the Power to the Heater Unit and turning it back on , and then trying to turn on heater again, So times after several atemps the valve will lock out and the power needs reset on Propane units.

Burner & pilot went out, will not go without having a gap in the burner access door

Replace the pilot generator and everything will work again. It is a problem with it sensing the flame from the pilot and when the generator stops working it tends to knock everything out

Rheem Pool Heater Clicks

1) common problem for this heater. Likely the pilot is igniting but the gas valve is not getting the signal back saying pilot is lit so open the main valve to burners. Easy fix with new pilot assembly. Good technician can diagnose this and change part in under 20 minutes.
To diagnose yourself go out after dark (to make pilot easier to see), turn on heater to make it spark. After it sparks 15-20 seconds pilot should be lit. With an inspection/cosmetic mirror you will either see the pilot sparking or lit. It will be in bottom right if burner cabinet, just follow the small silver tubing.
2) Second scenario, Pilot is not getting fuel. Could be clogged pilot assembly, stuck/faulty gas valve, supply line shut off valve not open.
In the event heater is in older, rusty/corroded condition there is the remote possibly of a hole in pilot tubing so gas isn't getting to the right location, just dumping into heater. If this is the case do not loose your eyebrows looking for pilot in scenario one, call a pro.
