i would think that unless your model says it is self cleaning then yes it is normal to have to clean the filters on a dish washer. the amount of time between cleans would depend on how dirty your dishes are.

first check the water supply if good water pressure.then check the pump under the bottom dish tray remove parts check for debree.

1) change the new batteries
2) Clean the contacts batteries very well
3) retight the springs contact for better contacts batteries
4) Open the remote and clean the keypad with special spray contacts cleaner.
Otherwise you must go to the repair shop.

Check the nozzles of the arm themselves. if you found lots of gookl there maybe some inside the arms blocking the spray holes which cause it to spin

My dishes are not all clean when done washing. Also it doesn,t sound like the not a lot of pressure when washing like it did when it was newer.
